Is it possible to connect Beolab 14 4.1 to my Beovision 5 plasma. It seems the Beolab 14 has RJ45 connectors and Beovision 5 powerlink.

Thank you guys for helping me out but what speaker option do I need to select in the BV5's menu or don't I need to? I don't think, in fact I'm sure that the BL14 does not exist in the menu.
Great, thanks MartinW! Will give it a try. Got the BL14 2.1 plus floorstands already and ordered 2 new satellites incl. table stands so then it will be a 4.1 set. Will ask Steve if he can supply me this special converter cable.
Oops, now I'm starting to do bla(h) bla(h) again. Will post pictures as soon as I have all the stuff connected to my BV5.

Leslie, the BeoLab 14 manual states you should select BeoLab 5 on your BV5 and set 'subwoofer' to YES. But I don't know if the BeoLab 5 is/was already listed in the BV5 menu. I suppose that by selecting BeoLab 5 the entire frequency range is send through the BeoLab 14 as this loudspeaker system processes the crossover frequency for the subwoofer and sattelites itself. The 'Mode-swich' (on the subwoofer) should be in PL-B position.
Cables from powerlink to RJ45 are available from your dealer, you'll need three of them (for the front speakers, rear speakers and subwoofer).

Now it's getting complicated (I think). Maybe I should open the box and RTFM I already send Steve an email for this cable. Thanks MDV, will all keep you informed. Btw, I managed to get the 100kg BV5 upstairs to my "show" bedroom. But there's still a lot of B&O stuff inside, no space at all

If yoú have a BV5 ( a B&O tellie), then all the processing is done by the B&O BV5.
Every BeoVision with Dolby Digital/DTS with powerlink for Sub, Front and Rear (active) does control the crossover frequencies, latency's, distance to the speaker etc. These can made in the sound menu at the beovision. So, three leads are going from the BV to the Beolab 14 sub.
Special sound settings (independent volume, distance, type of speaker) can't be set at the beolab itself. When a non B&O tellie is used, different common settings are used and without Dolby Digital or DTS. Then it will be just Dolby Surround.
If you're ordering a extra set of beolab's, why don't you order these special cables at the same time at the dealers?
It is just the same as connecting any other 5.1 setup of BL's.
Yes, with the only difference that the line audio leads go to the sub first and the amplified signals go from the sub to the attached front or rear speakers.
But it's a misunderstanding that all the processing is done by the beolab. If that would be the case, then Dolby Digital, Dts or other cinema audioformat wouldn't be possible.

I could have done that but I bought the satellites and stands a lot cheaper via another source Even Steve can supply me the cables much cheaper (I think).

You can connect to a modern surround receiver.
Let that decode the stream (from a BRP) to PCM and output through the 5.1 line-out's.
No Dolby Surround in this case - just 'pure' DTS HD (or whatever was bitstreamed to the receiver).
That's indeed another option to connect. I was just referring to the option to connect the beolab set to a non B&O television as stated in the manual, which mostly only have stereo analog audio out.
You described the 'Line Mode' with stereo connection.
I the 'Line Mode/ 'Amp Mode' with 5.1 connections?
The Bl14 does no prosessing/up-or downmixing - this is done by a non-B&O- or a B&O-surround processor before the sound is outputted to the BL14.
If you would have a BL14-4.1 connected to a stereo source you might have 'double stereo' - with front/back playing the same/'speaker4'.
