Hi

Im currently thinking about adding a Beolab 14 set to my V1. The problem is that I'm currently using one of the 3 PL sockets for the IR eye controlling an Apple TV. This is a problem as the Beolab 14 needs three PL sockets to connect to the V1.

Is it in any way possible to connect both the IR eye and the Beolab 14 to my V1?

Furthermore, where do I buy the RJ45 PL cables? Is it just a normal cat7 RJ45 network cables?

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

Hi Michael,

you are definetely not using a PL socket for the IR-eye.

Either the cable is put in wrong - but then the BEO4-remotecontrol of the Apple-box would not work!

Or you are using the right one - which is one of the ports named PUC1 or 2.

No reason to worry - just plug in the PL-cables as is written in the userguide(s).

There are 3 sockets which carry Front (left/right), Rear(left/right) and Sub.

The PL-cables used are with RJ45 plugs at both ends.

These are avaible at your dealer - just order them in the right length when you buy the 14.1-4 set.

I don't remember if cables are already included in the BL14-set?

Just the leads that runs from satellites to subwoofer and 3 type powercords.

RJ45 to PL cables has been ordered via Steve.

Looking forward to hearing the answer to this....

I did write it!

These are PowerLink cables with RJ45 plugs.

You can buy them where you buy the BL14-set, at Steve.....  or even make them yourself.

If you have a good shielded cat cable, just be sure that you terminate the plugs correct at both ends Stick out tongue

@MM, Sorry, the second part; So, to your point, if it is shielded CAT7, it's a commodity item you can get off Amazon for peanuts.

Okay, a bit of a blunder there!

I remembered it as 3 RJ45 sockets in the V1 in total, where the PUC1a+b and PUC2a+b was combined with the PL sockets. This is of course very wrong. There is 3 control sockets and 3 PL sockets. My bad ! :)

About the cables.. Both the Beolab 14 and Beoplay V1 use RJ45 connectors, but I can't seem to find these RJ45->RJ45 PL cables anywhere. All of them are DIN->RJ45.

EDIT:

I'm just gonna stop talking now! Found the cables at Steves website, they just didn't show when using the Cable finder :)

RJ45 to RJ45 is what you want. If you're not going far, standard cat5/6 will work.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Fine - please let us know what you think about the BL14-combo, if/when you have got it.
