Hi

I wonder if someone has bought the bl14 and use only the sub built in.

If yes, what front and rear speakers are you using.

Thanks to share your experience.

I bought a BL14 4.1 but waiting for the PL leads from Steve. Don't know what result you wil get when connecting speakers other than the satellites.

Hi Leslie

Thanks again for your help for my bl8000 problem (paul have the amp).

I read that you bought one set.

According to the fact, that you probably have a lot of activ speakers left, I am sure you will make some experimentations.

I would like to keep my surround speakers (bl3,7.2,8000) and just add the bl14 sub.

I found the bl11 to weak and the bl2 too boomy..

By the way, what's the use, you can't buy the sub seperately can you?

You are right Leslie, it is impossible actually to buy the subwoofer only. I have bought a 2.1 set and will sell the satellites at a bargain price.

Interesting, I could use one more or both. Shall we negotiate through PM or maybe we could do a swap?

Or use the 2 spare ones as 'front-highs' in a 7.1 setup Whistle

Maybe you should wait and listen to the new BL19?

It is supposed to sound much like BL11 (non-boomy), but with more power

Hi

I had a look on the specifications of the bl19 and I am not sure it will be more powerfull and more efficient.than the bl14. (260 watts vs 250 watts)

I don't think we can compare them as this is 2 different speakers.

I plan to use at least 2 amps of the bl14 for 2 surrounds passiv speakers I have already in the ceiling (2 IWS 2000).

I don't need any satellites.

Please, send me a mail (reminber you have it) or send me a pm.

Sorry, actually I prefer a sale than a swap.

I suspect that the BL 14 (which seems to have a 280 W amp) could have (theoretically) more output even with a slightly less powerful amp than the BL19 (which I believe has (2) 160 W amplifiers).  I say that because the BL 14 seems to have a correspondingly bigger volume than the BL18, even subtracting the volume of the port.  Also, the BL19 has (2) drivers which requires even more (theoretical) enclosure volume, all else being equal.  Given that the BL14 seems to have a fairly large enclosure compared to many BL speakers, it may not even require much frequency response modification (bass boost).  If so, it would not require as much power to boost the bass levels to "flat" levels vs. the BL19.'

It's not possible to be definitive about the above unless the Thiele-Small parameters of the raw drivers are known as a staring point.  From that and the enclosure volumes and port dimensions, one could get an idea what the bass response would be without any frequency response modification.
