Dear all,

I am currently considering getting a new pair of covers for my BL9 and I am tempted by the white color.

Though white can be visually nice, I would like to get a feedback from you guys who own them: do they get dirty easily and/or quickly? A reseller told me that after 3 years they would be light grey by common dirt!...

What bothers me more is that it seems we can spot the speakers behind the covers, like a couple of dark circles appearing. Am I right? Bottomline, is the white cover cloth thick enough?

Thanks for your input,

Philippe

I have white BL5's. After  3 years they are still absolutely perfect!

Too long to list....

Thanks Razlaw and Bayerische for your feedback, but again:

objectively, do you see or "guess" black speakers behind white cloth (brand new AND after some time, say one year of use)??

On an aside note, about Beolabs getting dirty, I came to think it shouldn't really be a problem: our BL9s are far away from where we are used to move around, our house is clean, we don't smoke, ...

As the covers have holes behind the fret I would not recommend to buy the white cover until you have seen them in the flesh!
The cover of Beolab 6000, 4000, 3500 are made of one piece of aluminium without a cut for the speakers and there you can't see anything that disturbs the eye.

Even on the silver grill of my silver Avant you can see the holes for the speakers. I've seen white 8000 and 9 at the local dealer and it looks cheap and unprofessional like an amateur designed those frets depending on how the light shines on the speakers. Not something that I would like to have at home!

Hi Philippe,

i do own Beolab 9 with white fret since 1,5 years.

They are perfect, although they are located nearby a stove, where occaisonally some ash comes from the stove.

evertheless, under certain lighting conditions you see the loudspeaker behind the fret. Not during daylight, but in the evening with some lights turned on..

I do not bother, white is great as it fits to my Beoplay V1 in White perfectly.

Hope this helps,

Kiwi

I do not see thought the frets unless I look. I saw a pair in a store where the speakers behind the white were very obvious, but they had bright spotlights on them. If the light is somewhat bright, and I look at my speakers looking to see through the frets, I will see the speakers. But in most light I do not and if I am not trying to see through them I do not.

On the BL5's I can barely see the hole-drilled cover underneath the cloth for the speaker. I can't see the speaker itself.
