Have invested in a preowned Beloab 3500. Manufacturing year 2001.
I have noted that the right hand side of the speaker plays louder than the left side.
Balance is set in the middle. Its very clear that the sound is stronger on the right side when I move balance from "side to side".
What could be the problem?
Assume that the Masterlink connection cannot be the source of such a problem.
Any hints is appreciated.

You could test that by swapping the BL2000 to the place/the Ml where you have the problem.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
It could be the Masterlink circuit. The audio is distributed in a Balanced format and if one of the channels has one wire off, then that channel will be 6db lower in level (half the volume of the good channel). Check the continuity of the faulty channel for open circuit condition on one of the wires.

Thanks both for the suggestions.
For a possible wire off in e.g. the junction box I understand I particulary should check the following wires for left channel:
white/orange
orange
Correct?
Will check this evening.

Did you use B&O ML-cables everywhere? (that is, if you yourself did the installation).
Surely it can be measured, but do check the plugs as well.
Hiort, see this thread http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/6106.aspx - i had a similar problem and it was the Masterlink connection (photo's in the thread i referenced) . Check your source's masterlink connector as well.
Hiort:Would a B&O service techie be able to do measurements to find the faults?
Why not use a multi meter yourself ?' Tip them out" as we say.
You will need a second person if the source and 3500 are in different rooms.

Yes, its B&O original everywhere.

I´m not really a friend with multi meters. I simply do not know how to setup the measurement.

Thanks for the reference. I have checked all connectors, and they are all good.
I have narrowed down to that the problem must be in either a wallsocket or a junktion box where the cable is split into two.
Will open that junctionbox and the wallsocket this evening.

I have now checked everything an cannot find any problems.
"valve1" Are you able to give me simple instructions on how to do measurements?

I`d disconnect all products from ML and measure connection of orange/white, orange and corresponding ground (blanc wire) from first to last junction box with multi meter- maybe it will be some distance so you will need a long wire and a second person.

Hiort, what type of multi meter do you have ? Digital or analogue ?
If digital, do you have a music symbol on the ohm scale ?

You don`t need to measure any values - it`s just the connection - yes or no.
Most digital meters give a kind of beep sound if it detects connection - that`s all you need.
Set your meter to ohm scale.
Maybe this helps (from minute 2:20 - 3:20):

Thanks everyone for providing helpful hits on how to narrow down the problem.
After simply redoing all junctionboxes and still no improvements, I was advised by a B&O Service guy to check the ML Wallsocket. His experience was that in 9 out of 10 cases the wallsocket is the problem. I had only visually inspected the termination of the ML leads in the wallsocket.
After simply redoing the orange and orange/white lead termination, I believe that the BL3500 sounds as it should.
The technichian will lend me a Masterlink Tester next week, so that I am sure very thing is top notch.
