i2Paq: Could someone point me towards info on how to take the 1202 a part and how / where to lubricate it?
Could someone point me towards info on how to take the 1202 a part and how / where to lubricate it?
There is a manual onsite for silver and gold members, I would like to help you but as I dont have a BG 1200 yet, I dont want to say something stupid
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Søren Mexico:I have been investigating the belt and have contacted the BeoWorld 'go-to' Martin and he does'nt have the right one. So I'm working on this myself.
I found this one by Axel in Germany, Axel is well known for his cantilever repairs and high quality, so maybe his belt will be OK, If somebody has tried this belt, please comment
Evan: Widening the angle now, the 3000 and 1202 together.

Veery nice Evan -But You need to do something about that outlet on the wall...
Time for a little update.
I was busy avoiding homework yesterday and here is one of the activities that helped me do just that...
Fixed wall plate for Steffan (stolen from another outlet!), put S45-2's on speaker stands for Rich, added ground cable than removed it (not good enough) but moved it to the BeoMaster and finally added in my NAD 5355 CD player with a fresh DIN cable.
Beo4 'til I die!
Last weekend my sister could pick up a Beogram 1202, in Løsning DK, my son will pack it well and bring it to Mexico, will arrive end of June. Now this is a BG with the old motor only for 50 Hz, and this causes that it will run 20 % faster on 60 Hz, my plan is to change the circumference of the belt drive wheel by minus 20 %, or make a new wheel. Lets see if its posible.
Here the beauty, comes with pickup and dust cover

And Cantilever
Looks excellent Søren!!!!
Do you know which cartridge you have?
I'm interested in you 60Hz conversion too! I quite like the idea of making a new pulley - I love lathe work.
Evan:
Another garage sale 150+ LP haul has netted me a few more duplicates. Any interest in AC/DC "Back in Black," Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic," Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours," or early Van Halen (need to check my collection to see which are duplicates - at least one or two)?
Let me know.
Rich
Soren:
Pretty. But isn't there an electrical solution to your problem?
I'm not sure about that, Rich, seams like it should be possible with bigger resistors, or maybe a couple of trimpots, but I would have to do experiments as I dont know how to, the mechanical solution I'm sure of, and Martin told me the motor will have no problems with the 60 Hz.
But if someone could come up with an electrical solution it would save me a lot of work.
I believe the mechanical solution, if you can implement one, would be easier by far. The motor is an asynchronous AC type, meaning that the rotor will directly follow a rotating magnetic field created by the AC. The rotational speed is therefore tied to the supply frequency.
An electronic solution would need to recreate a 50 Hz supply (either 220V or 110V). There are cheap inverters that can do that from 12V DC, but they waveform they create is far from pure sine wave, and I suspect therefore no good for this purpose. The motor might not run smoothly on it.

Thank you Mika, I knew it wasn't that simple, In the 1980s I was workshop manager for a company in Germany, we sold used printing m/cs throughout the world. For 60 Hz countries we had to convert the electric systems from 380/50 to 220/60 Hz, M/Cs from the 1960/70s even some from early 80s was only build for 50 Hz, we had to recoil some motors, and even open type relays where we had to change coils in all of them, some M/Cs had up to 150 relays, so it was quite a job. After conversion we couldn't test the systems, so our electrician got build a 3 phase 220/60 Hz generator, driven by a 380/50 Hz motor. well after 1985 more or less, nearly all M/Cs was made for both 380/50, 220/440/60 Hz, but even then we had to check every single motor, today its all convertible.
Cant wait to get my 1202 over here, its going to be fun.
My sister mailed me some picks, "in the flesh", the other picks was from the sellers post.

Looks OK, no abuse,Now I'm waiting for pics of the pickup, told my sister how to take it of and take pics.
To me it seams like the platter is riding a little too high ??, How is your opinion Evan

Could it be because the transport-screws are tightened..?

Maybe a new Beoworld filter to avoid double posts

You really got me thinking of getting a Beogram 1202! Is it possible to connect it to BL800's? What would I need to do that?

Its possible, but you will need and amplifier and maybe a preamplifier, or connect like this

Excuse me for asking but why do I need an amplifier when the BL have those built-in? Wouldn't I just need something to control the audio stream like an reciever?

Its not a conventional power amplifier. More specifically, like Søren says, you need a phono preamplifier to go after the 1202. I would highly recommend a receiver as you will also need a volume control of sorts. The 901(?) that Søren posted won't work very well as it doesn't have preouts. You need volume controlled line outputs to drive the BeoLab 8000s.

I have had my BL 8000 and 4000 connected to the 901 and the BM 2400, at the moment I have the 8000s connected to speaker 1 output on my BM 4000, no problems what so ever, next the 8000 will be connected to my BM 5000, and again to speaker 1.
In the manuals for BL 4/8000 there is no mention about only connecting to a regulated line output, but mentioned is that you can connect to non B&O amps with LINE IN (RCA plug) on the BLs.
Many non B&O amps has too low line output to drive the BLs they need at least 400 mV, my Onkyo has line out 200 mV, and that is just not enough to drive them, they will play, but only to normal listening level.
Evan BTW, did you see my Cantilever, remarks ??, which difference between SP14 and SP14A

With attenuated cables, I'm sure...? I don't disagree - it is possible. For the sake of sound however, it is probably best to avoid having unnecessary gain in the signal path.
And again, I agree, many alternatives to B&O. Non B&O preamps/processors have a lot to offer.
Regarding your cantilever - is it crooked? I took mine off to inspect it and looks as if yours is bent to one side. As far as differences between SP14 and SP14A I am not sure. Maybe the Doc can enlighten us, this seems like his area of expertise.

Bad pic, yes looks bend, but this one is better
Very nice, all of your print is intact! The 'DENMARK' lettering across the top of mine is wearing badly.
Ok Søren, here is a shot of my SP12. After paying more attention, it seems the cantilever should be perfectly straight.
Wonder if Peter comes up with some tech about these cantilevers, in the product section there isn't too much info, if not I will mail him and ask.
Cant wait to get mine over here, it will be a great complement to my BM 901, and then go hunting for a pair of P30s/S25
