Hello All,

When I bought our B&O equipment with Beo 5 remote, our dealer set everything up including beo 5 config. They did leave me a copy of the software in case I wanted to make changes which I haven't needed to until recently, having purchased new equipment. When I load the software, it asks for a User and Password which I don't have. Without this is only lets you work offline. Is there a default password? Is it something only our dealer would have - they closed down a long time ago, or can it be reset?

Is it possible to download the existing configuration from the remote without the password?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

you can NOT download the configuration from the Beo 5/6 to the Computer, only from Computer to Beo 5/6.

You always have to leave username and password blank and select to work offline! Online is only for B&O dealer access which you do NOT need for programming your remote.

The only way to get your configuration is to ask your dealer if he has the file of your remote control on his computer or saved it somewhere on yours. He could send you a copy of the file and you can work with it.

If there's no copy you have to start from scratch which means you better tell your wife that the wouldn't see you for the next few hours Big Smile

Next few hours --- I think it'll be next few days!!

Some of it looks a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I think I'll leave it as it is for the moment.

Thanks a lot for the info TWG.

B&O is not very ergonomic in terms of software design, I know... they have to learn and improve much more.

BUT: I can assure you that it does not take days. If you start simple without custom graphics for every button the configuration can be done in a period of hours - not days! Big Smile

Just start by adding your rooms in the software and name them, than add the products to every corresponding room etc.
You can rename and move every button on the remote display inside the software like you want, use different colors etc.
When you click the right mouse button on a soft button on the screen you'll access the context menu of this button. There you can add color, you can see which IR-signals your remote will send, you can edit the button text etc. etc. etc. :-)

At the end of the configuration: Be sure that you add the option-programming to your products!

When you think you are done: send the configuration to your remote and don't be afraid of error messages about your configuration: The software told me about errors... just ignore it, upload to your remote and test it live with your equipment.
Than you'll see:
What works how, what's ergonomic for you, what is not, what is logical to what is not and what is ergonomical for your wife and what time does it take until your wife says "PLEASE stop switching on/off every equipment / light inside the house!!!" Smile
That's the fun of "field testing" ;-)

Another alternative could be the great Beo 5/6 iPad configurator from Jacob Rungwald! Kudos for this software!
