HI, Ive just bought a used Beogram 3500 with MMC4 cartridge, it sounds great, and looks fantastic (mint).
The only problem that I have is with the lamp that lights us the stylus, is always on (faint) and will only go out when i remove the power.
I believe that the lamp should only go on when you lift up the lid, and when the record is playing, and should go out when the record has finished playing.
Anybody know what causes this problem ?, and can it be fixed ?.
Ive removed the bulb, but would like to get this Beogram working 100%
Can only see on the forum when the lamp is not working.
Please help
Ken
Hi Ken,
this lamp is controlled by a transistor (TR3, BC337), which could be defective. This should be no problem to fix. Or even worst case: the output channel of the controller (PIN16) gives no clear signal. Then you have to replace the controller, or change the whole board, if you can get one.
Chris
The lamp is not controlled by the lid in any way.
The lamp is on when the cueing controls are used.
I don't remember it being on when the record is playing although I don't have a deck at the moment to check. I will get one out of stock today and check.
Regards Graham
Yes thats right, it lights up while cueing and goes off a few seconds after starting playback
Hi Chris,
Is It easy to change the transistor, i quess you would have to take the beogram to bits ?.
How can i measure the output channel of the controller (what should the reading be).?
Can you get hold of a replacement controller if this is defect?.
Is this board ony used in the Beogram 3500?, or in other Beogram's.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
Hi Graham,
Thanks,. Do you know if the Beogram 3500 can be controlled with the Beo4 remote?
Im using a beosound 3000.
Ive got the remote in Phono mode, but nothing seems to happen? except regulating the volume.
From what I remember the Beosound 3000 does not implement Datalink so there will be no control from the Beo4.
