Hi

I hesitate between lutron and control4 for the control of my lights, curtains and b&o a/v.

I have contacted recluseav in order to have the price of their driver for MLGW and control4. No answer.

Do you use it with success and how did you find it ?

Thanks

Hi there

i am in the same place as you. I have a full B and O setup but as upgrading my tv will mean I need to have some form of video dist that will cost a fortune and that I will loose my Beemer connection I am thinking of control 4.

the only think that I struggle with is letting go of my bv7 and that control 4 is dealer programmed only. I know there is a few workarounds for that if you find a good dealer or some software. What happens if the company went bust and there was no server to authenticate against when a dealer logs in.

i think control 4 will be the way to go for me but I am not sure I want to spend 2k on a MLGW to convert from IP to ML.

i think automated homes are the way forward and I will link my doorbell, dor cam, curtains, lights, biolock there are so many things you can do.if I could find an alternative to control 4 that worked as well I would go for it.

until then I am in limbo.

i think reclusAV only sell to c4 dealers.

Hi,

That's why they didn't answer to my question.

I spent my life avoiding these closed system.

Lutron should be the solution , with the graphic eyes QS or radiora2 (don't seem available in CE).

I absolutely need to control my existing curtains in a wireless way and they only speak of shade control.

Home automation has never been a simple task, particularly for old home.

I think i will still go down the Control 4 line unless somethign else comes around the corner first.

There are plenty of new autoamtion things coming along at the moment we just need a open source way of controlling it all.

Fingers crossed

if you build a house, KNX is the best "open source way". Compatible with everything

Is there anything top secret about Control4 info?

Or  maybe any other reason not to discuss C4 in public....??

Send you a pm.

The first rule about Control4 is that you do not talk about Control4 :)

What is it you want to do that you would need to have Control4 for exactly? The Atlona matrix solution which is what B&O have integrated into the BeoVision software isn't that expensive. BeoVision 11-40 with a 4x4 matrix for full HD distribution costs less than a BeoVision 7-40 that could do SD distribution via an RF Amplifier.

I love Lutron and spend every day working with it at home and at work. I've done some fantastic projects with MLGW, Atlona and Lutron. I have yet to find the need to add Control4 hardware to get the result I want.

Of course, thats just my opinion. I do know Control4 is popular especially outside of B&O world, and I would be interested to hear what other B&O users use it for and why?

And I, I would love to hear how you do with Lutron and your MLGW for curtains for example (grafik eyes QS especially)

I'm gonna have more information about the use of control4 and a MLGW.

With the zigbee stuff compatible with Control4, it makes the installation easier in an old house. Just need a controller, a licence and a good professionnal.

I learned yesterday that my wife works with a certified control4 installer/dealer.

So I will finally know how much cost a recluse av licence + all the rest for a first installation that will increase in the futur. (light controls + curtains controls ...).
