Its the third case in short time I have had dialogue wth a person regarding broken BG by freight.
The last BM900s I have bought have highly suspected transport issues with broken lines on PC board on several of them., well now, I can fix this issues, but what will the average buyer do ?
I think it is sad that these historical pieces will most likely disapear by these reasons
Myself, I am not so sure I want to buy used B&O stuff by freight anmore.
My re-capped M75 are my precious diamonds.
One of the major problems I've found is that the sellers do not pack the items properly or completely ignore sensible advise on how to package these items.
I've had items delivered in a completely destroyed state too. Glass panels smashed, corners broken etc. Most of the time it's probably not the courriers fault. Items arrive with no indication that an item contains glass or is fragile. Styrofoam on top and underneath an item is fine but not if the cardboard box is tight/too small and all 4 corners are not protected. Any knock to the edge and the piece is destroyed. In this mad dash World a courrier cannot carry every piece as if it's fragile - it will delay delivery, increase costs and so on. The onus has to be on the shipper.
Despite repeatedly instructing sellers how to ship Beograms securely, most don't bother. They just want their payment and don't care about the buyer or the product and whether it arrives in one piece or not. Sadly, this is representative of the state of eBay and other auction selling sites customers. Not all, but most.
Just look at the official B&O packaging and see how substantial it is - strong, protecting all surfaces etc. It's custom made for the job. Sellers seem to use any old flimsy cardboqrd box and bit of sticky tape.
It is sad that over time so many classic items ware being destroyed in this way. I try to collect more items these days as I don't want to lose any more.
