Hi all beoworlder's

On picture quality alone, Which of these would you put in your home, beovision 7 40 mk4 or, and here's the million dollar question, a panasonic zt 60.

Many thanks for your input as I am not convinced and would like to hear your points of view

Many thanks

Tom

The Mk4 is great - no contest for me. Its not just about picture after all - you get integrated surround sound, PUC, motor stand, beolab 7......

The 7-40 MK4 is the only 7 series I would look at this time. Or the 7-55 versions as they are still spectacular and keep up with the new series. The ZT60 is a great picture as well, especially if you plan on driving it with a BeoSystem. But as Martin says, there is more to it then just PQ..... Design, Movements, Sound, Integration, etc, etc.........

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

But this is about picture alone as I know that the beovision beat it hands down in every other department and I will be sad to see it go I only ask as I am finding it near on impossible to find a zt60 I can see to make a comparison

I have the previous year VT50 in a 65 inch size. While I haven't seen the Beocision you mention in quite a while, I never cease to be amazed and impressed by my Panasonics picture quality. It's the first set I've ever owned where I have felt no need to modify the factory picture settings. The THX Cinema and THX Bright Room settings are about as perfect as it gets. I imagine the ZT panel is even better.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

I don't think your leveling up between the two, more of a lateral move between the two. The plasma will be a bit warmer imagine, but a MK4 will be almost identical quality wise.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

In terms of PQ, the major advantage of the Panasonic ZT60 is that it's calibration controls allow a full ISF calibration.

This review makes very interesting reading---awarded Reference Level.

the ZT60 every time, after xmas you will be able to buy them for around £2600

a friend of mine got one ex display for £2750 in the Summer and it is superb, absolutely spot on with Blu-Ray content, hard for anything to beat it at this price point, and probably one of the last Panasonic plasma 60 inch size models that you will be able to buy

It should be borne in mind that Panasonic has announced that it will cease manufacturing Plasma TVs on the 31 March 2014.

If one wants a ZT60 one should act sooner rather than later.
