Hi everyone,

Just a heads-up that the updated version of the Technical Sound Guide is now available on the website at

http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/customer-service/product-support/picture/beovision-11

This is a relatively significant update, including (for example) bass management info on all the new loudspeakers.

Cheers

Exactly the kind of document that I'd like to shove down the throat show to the guy that wrote the first comment at the Sound & Vision article discussed elsewhere Big Smile

Impressive adjustment possibilities.

Thank you very much for the heads up Geoff.

I've just had a look at the website, and note that the link you've provided above is for the BV11.

However, it appears that the technical sound guide for the V1 is also updated (same file name on the website download), so am I correct in assuming that the updated technical sound guide is applicable/the same for both the BV11 and the Beoplay V1 family of TV's, or are their differences one should be aware of?

Speaking as a proud and delighted owner of the V1 - 40 BTW...

Many thanks.. Big Smile

Kind regards

John... Cool

It's the same document for both televisions. I believe that the V1 does not have a headphone output, thus the headphone offset gain is of little use there (if it shows up in the menus at all...). Other than that, the software features for audio processing are identical in both cases. The BeoSystem 4 is also the same.

Of course, there are significant differences in hardware - both with respect to the internal loudspeakers and the number of PowerLink outputs. . . but that's an answer to a different question that you didn't ask. . .

Nice to read that you're "proud and delighted"!

I took a look, even though I have a more plebeian TV...very impressive amount of information, and the kinds of Info I wish I could get on a lot of B&O products. For example,,details of the crossovers, slope and freq, etc. for the BL2 and 11, and I've always been curious about the tine controls on my BS9000. I've run tpmy BL8000s with both the BS9000 and an AV7000, and the tone controls on the BS worked much better, almost as if they were designed with the BL8000 in mind.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

@Geoff

a question if I may. Does the BV11 Homemedia app support multichannels audio files (f.e. FLAC of WAV 5.1)?

If I play a 5.1 WAV on the BV11 it shifts the complete music spectrum to the right. What should be heard in the center channel is reproduced by the front right.

Same file played through another mediaplayer gives the correct reproduction of the music (= the same as the original played through the Oppo BR player)

Hi,

The short answer for this evening is "I don't know" but I'll ask some people who know such things and get back to you.

One question back to you: what is the source of your multichannel wave files? I have had a similar experience as the one you're describing using multichannel .wav's recorded in one software and played back in another. (that was a long time ago  - pre BeoVision 11...)

Cheers

Hi Geoff,

My first impression was also that the channel order in the file was not the same. But the same file ( f.e. Randy Newman's Short People; singing is extremely centered on the original DVDA) played through Homemedia or a DuneHD mediaplayer is completely different. This is only one example but very pronounced.

Almost all files are ripped by myself. Depending of the origin (DVDA, DVDV, SACD, BR) the software used is different. Sometimes it is only one easy rip, sometimes the way to get the WAV is a complex process. But in the end the effect can be found when ripping a sacd ISO with Foobar2000 or a DVDA with DVD Audio Extractor, or.........

The 5.1 FLAC and WAV 24/96 files from Itrax.com work perfectly on Home Media(and are amazing).

Hi Geoff

Thank you very much for taking the time to get back to me with that information - I shall have a read through the amended sound guide with great interest.

I'm also very proud and delighted with my Beolab 9's ...along with the Beoplay V1-40 - it's by far the best kit this now fully recovered audiophile has had the pleasure of owning in the many years I've been involved in Hifi as a hobby/adjunct/extension of my love of, and involvement in music and film.

Best Regards

John... Smile

If Adaptive is chosen it sound very good. But if settings are saying "pass through" (1:1) and the file is with very pronounced singing in the centre channel, there is a shift to the right.

I double checked the different files. In Foobar2000 it is totally clear the singing is in the Front Centre channel.

Examples:

Randy Newman -  Short People (origin DVDA) ; No-Man - Beautiful songs you should know (origin DVDA); James Taylor - Hard Times (origin SACD)
