Hi everyone,
My Beogram 5005 seems to have developed a strange issue, the tonearm does a little wobble when it returns to the rest position. It doesn't do it if the record plays from start to finish and returns on its own, but if I stop a record half way through it does.
I've uploaded a video to youtube of the problem, please take a look and have a listen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bykosfHl4Zc
Any Ideas guys? Is it supposed to do that?
Thanks in advance,
Lee
Just bumping my post which I've now edited to include a link to a video of the problem...

Check the grease on the carriage rails. It can dry and become sticky, causing something like this.

Hi Martin,
I'm going to re-grease the rails and see if this fixes the problem.
I have a tub of molly kote grease, some white lithium grease, and a tin of servisol 70 silicone spray grease, are any of these suitable?
Thanks,
You will find remains of white grease in there.I suggest you use that again.
I use Robbe teflon grease.

Would that be white lithium grease Martin?
Yes, it's used because of the carriage (nylon'ish plastic) material.
Just checked the white lithium grease I've got and its marine grade so I'm a bit sceptical about using it... not sure if being marine grade it contains some additives that would damage/soften the plastic carriage. Any one any ideas?
Thanks again,
I don't think it will cause any damage but you can use almost any non-acid grease.Silicon grease will also work.
