Hi all,

Suddenly today after playing a cd, the laser carriage dropped to the base of the player and wont return to the home/top position, is this a common problem? and is it expensive to get repaired?

Many thanks in advance

Hi.

I have a suggestion for you.

Try cleaning the small glass "taps" on the alu plate. You can see one of them clearly in this picture, in the lower right corner of the alu-plate: http://wodumedia.com/wp-content/uploads/BeoSound-9000.jpg

I guess that your BS9000 is placed vertical. In this position, the lower "tap" can collect too much dust. If it does, it won't be able to "see" the other tap, which makes it engage finger protection = the sledge won't move.

Try cleaning both of the taps and maybe the inside of the glass lid, as the light between the taps bounces between the glass lid and the aluminium plate. When this is done, disconnect and reconnect the mains.

Let me know if this helps you out Smile
