hello

can i connect a rx2 bang and olufsen turntable to a beomster 2000 - i think the rx2 has a phono lead, rather than the din?

thanks for any help anyone can offer.

There are 2 types of Beomaster 2000.  Which one do you have?

By 'phono lead' I assume you mean RCA connectors?

No matter which you have, you can buy connectors which allow you to connect RCA to DIN and vice versa.

Such cables are available from Steve at Sounds Heavenly - one of the Beoworld sponsors who has a link at the bottom of the page.

If the RX2 has an RCA lead it has been messed about with and may not be the best of jobs.  You could always convert it back to the DIN cable by replacing the complete cable.  Why people do this messing about when all they need is an adaptor cable is beyond me!

I hope it was transported with the transport screws fastened!  Make sure you undo the transit screws as indicated.  I also hope the cartridge wasn't still attached whilst the deck was being transported.  If it was, it in all likelyhoood is now knackered.  I hope not, but inspect it carefully.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the recommendation!  I am always happy to build cables for any of the Beograms, even if the standard connectors have been modified.

Kind regards, Steve.

Not correct. The RX & TX Beograms came with RCA connectors as standard.

All the Beogram X-models (Beogram CD X, CDX2, RX, RX2, TX, TX2) have RCA connectors.
They were primarily meant for connecting to non-B&O systems though they will work fine with B&O if used with an adapter as mentioned above.

Starting to veer off topic perhaps, but this has perplexed me for awhile.  My BC1900 has female RCA jacks, my BC2400 and BC8004 have female DIN jacks, and my BC4500 has an integrated DIN cord with male end.  Maddening when I want to mix things around amongst the various systems.

I have fitted female RCA sockets to the rear of a couple of Beocord 1900s in my time.
Is yours original with RCA sockets? If so, could you provide photos ?

My mistake - I had the 1900 and the 2400 mixed up.  I went into the kid's play room to photograph the BC1900 to find it fitted with a female DIN jack.  The BC2400 in the garage is the one fitted with female RCA jacks.  Was that standard?

That's what I am trying to find out.

Original, no doubt, but still quite a rough conversion of the european version for the US market, it seems.
Thanks, Rich. Appreciated!

You're welcome.  That top cut looks very rough, but the lettering is done so well I never gave it a second thought until this thread.
