You know... I see no moving laser mechanism in there, so I assume it has four lasers....

if B&O could have made a CD player with six lasers, the change between discs could have been instantaneous as opposed to a clamper scooting it's way up and down. Would that have been better or worse than the BeoSound 9000 ?!!

back on topic though, yes - it looks awful, and it's a shameless copy of a B&O classic.

:) Yes made in plastic and indeed it looks awful. It does have 4 lasers but i don't think it's better than a moving clamper.

It was just wow a beosound for a second until i looked a bit better. A big disappointment

Woof looks hideous. Who made this?

i actually like the clamper moving up and down. I think it is great precision engineering.

It is called Elta 2461, you can find more images on Google. Elta is a German manufacturer of household appliances.

I saw it a few years ago in a shop. When you opened the lid it had to check for each of the four (!) cd mechanisms whether a cd was loaded. Very annoying if you ask me. And plastic all the way...

this really shows the skill set of the B&O design team and how it is hard to replicate what appears and never is a simple design.

I believe Amstrad in the UK tried a similar copy of the Century with alarming effect.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Is the guy with the pad blasting it out into space?  If so, that's a good move and a correct decision.. Laughing
