When is the new Beo remote coming out?
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
PhilLondon:Have you heard anything? It's the first time I hear about a new remote!
I was told a new remote was due to release in the early new year as the Beo6 is now discontinued!
Could it be an iPad app again?

First I have heard of a new remote. Also did not know the Beo 6 had been discontinued.

I don't think the Beo6 is discontinued. It is live and well on the B&O homepage.
This guy is either a troll, or VERY misinformed with a lot of things...
Too long to list....
BeoVision 12-65 / BeoLab 9 / Beo6 / BeoCom 2 / AppleTV 4
I agree. Modern led's would hardly impact on battery life, but even if they did would be worth it.
The Beo 4 would be the last piece of B&O kit to leave my house.
I wouldn't miss the Beo 6 at all. It just sits collecting dust, when it's not falling over and breaking.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Do you need a light on Beo4 ?
You know the Beo4 functions you need for after you've turned the light off ; volume up/down , Station etc and Off.
That's why there was Beotime with virtually these functions alone. But I believe there was a Cinema" Version of the 4.
Picture, sound, stand, picture mute...
Is that a question or a statement ?
sorry it was a little remote.
Of cource the BEO4 will stay - I don't doubt that at all.
But those of you who can't imagine a new or see the need of a new remote, please do think of the fact that a NL-based B&O setup needs new/other commands.
This is what the iPad-app has tried to cover. But this app - of cource - lacks support for ir-control or should I say 'direct access control'/'hardbutton control'.
This is what a Beo6 has - but the network related controls of the BEO6 are too weak/the display is too small. And it is far too difficult to configure it.
My 'guess' is that we soon will see a new remote coming with a touchscreen interface and some hardbuttons.
The touchscreen for choosing the content (music, video, tv programmes and where to play them - and the hardbuttons for easy access to sound control, skipping, start, stop - in the room where you actually are.
Could even be made for hanging on the wall or on a stand. (If it could receive ir commands as well it would be perfect so).
Just my 'guess'!
But it is an interesting theme - time will tell.
And time will tell, if the users want/need/accept a new remote control at all....
....or just stay with the good old BEO4

There is a tv - and there is a BV
We've got three beo4 and a Beotime which I don't fancy replacing and the iPad app is rarely used. It could be habit over the last 17 years of using the Beo4 that makes it so effective for us .

Hi Räuber - just count to 6 and push GO
Can be done blindly
MM

Raeuber: Hi MM, but what to do if I go demented in a few years? 😪
Hi MM,
but what to do if I go demented in a few years? 😪
Hi Räuber,
at that point it won't matter, which button you press - I am sure.
I could come and change channels for you once in a while - if you like

I'm not demented yet (hopefully), but I have a number of Beo4s with different LIST lists. And in the older ones, you can't even rearrange it. I might even end up using somebody else's Beo4.
But that's a moot point - even if they came up with a lighted version, the old Beo4s still wouldn't be going anywhere, so we are all doomed

There WAS a Beo4 version with light.
A real battery drainer!
If you wan't one and (Räuber ) still are able to change batteries often, go for that.
They are - I guess - rather expensive nowadays.

To quote the B&O website
"The Beo4 remote control is the key to the BeoLink system. Beo4 is a remote control so simple that it can be operated in the dark, "
And if you did light the Beo 4 the switch pad it'd have to be done , automotive style . The pad would be moulded in translucent material then black finished and lazer etch the graphics off . Even the Century switches were done this way but there was space .

New led's are so efficient now, the whole thing should just light up the moment it is picked up. Keys and all.
Not a bad idea
Using the laser cut switch graphics and the movement sensing of the Beotime for those who have a complex set-up.
I would be OK with a configurable App for the iPhone and Ipod. The iPad is a likkle bulky and the app cannot be configured - something between Be06 and the current app would be perfect.
The Beo4 is still great anyhow - but if touch-> iPhone App!

On a remote without touch screen, we really need more physical source buttons as we have more and more sources.
N.MUSIC and N/RADIO are major sources, rather than secondary. On TVs, there's terrestrial, cable or satellite, then most people have an Apple TV or another kind of STB.
If you take the Beolink 1000, it had only a few more buttons and you didn't need a List button, thanks to just an extra row of button, and the use of SHIFT, SOUND and PICTURE buttons.
The Beo4 is a great remote, but when your system is simple, as soon as you have a larger number of sources, it's cumbersome.
