Something that has always also interested me, but somehow nobody has replied to my similar inquiries. My guess is yes, it does support a digital cable receiver and yes, it does have a positive effect on picture quality. I have just seen a MX 6000 operated via a Sky Decoder in Germany, which to the best of my knowledge serves as a digital cable receiver, and the picture quality was far better than in my case without such a device. However, there may also well be other reasons like local signal quality, quailty of the tube etc. that may have caused the differences. Therefore, I don't really know.
Cheers,
Kai
If You mean an STB (Set top box) as a digital cable receiver, then the answer is of course, yes, You can use it with an MX 7000.
An SD quality STB works with scart connector(s), so You can simply attach it as a VCR/DVD to the MX series. To do it You have to setup the TV for the connection (ie.: You have to set the Scart connector to act as VCR-2, or SAT on the remote controller to switch to the STB), which is a very simple thing. You can not use an HD quality STB, because it uses HDMI connector(s), and no scart connector, as there is no reason to watch HD source on an SD TV.
An STB have several features, not picture quality only. About the picture: of course it's far better, as the digital signal's quality can be compared to a quality of a DVD, so it's usually far cleaner then the regular antenna related signals, however B&O MX series have so superior picture quality, that in Your case there will be less diffenrence in the picture quality than on a different TV.
IMHO, if You are satisfied with Your signal strenght now, and all Your favourite channels are available without an STB, and You have to pay for an STB without any knowledge plus, then it will not worth the money.
In my case, I rent an STB from UPC, because I prefer the digital guide, and the series recording option (set one episode only with the request to record all episode), with dual channel recording - and also prefer that the STB's remote controller can be set for the MX series, so the main things can be controlled from one remote only.
I hope this helps
