Hi!

I had to change the trimmers of my Beomaster 6000 because the settings were not stable. It therefore remained unused for almost two years!

Job done, testing for stability.

Now it's playing where my beloved Beomaster 8000 (fully refurbished too) used to lay, feeding my MC120-2 speakers.

Boy what a surprise!

The lesser 6000's sound is much more detailed and refined, with plenty of detail! It matches the MC120 much better too! Even the bass is now more present.

What a receiver. I had forgotten!

It is now very stable too.

By the way, when I moved the bigger brother, ouch my back! Super Angry

The 6000 is very similar to the 4400 in circuit design. Both of these are known to be very sweet sounding receivers. I certainly preferred my 4400 to my 8000 but these days I doubt I could tell the difference! Big Smile

Yes Peter, I love my 4400 too. Same sound as the later 6000 really.

Who is the bloke of your new avatar? And who was the old one anyway? Confused

Well my original white Beosystem 6000 is currently one of 2 B&O setups though 2 diffrent rooms. It was 2008 when Dillen serviced the DOA units (Beocord 6000 in 2013!).

I always used my matching Beovox S120 or S80 also rebuilt in 2008 by Dillen. Currently I have my Beovox M150 connected and does sound very good as always. I do have one non functional dome tweeter I have to send to Dillen to look at.

It sounds great and since I got the complete system back in full working condition it deserves to be up so it is. I do have a white BM8000 waiting for me to use it and get serviced along with matching Beocord 9000 which is recently serviced by Dillen. I use that BC to record once in a while.

I have not really heard the BM8000 for 2-3 years or so and only through the Beovox M150. It is mainly my Beosystem 6500 and 6000 that I hear. I love them both. The S120 are currently used with the 6500 and sounds good though another twetter has gone dead but I have taken it out and will go to Dillen soon.

They are both of my grandfather for whom I am named. The original avatar was another relative, my great, great, great, great grandfather. The pictures are in my hall - I am lucky enough to have the original oil paintings from about 1790.

As the person who has owned Peter's old 4400 and 8000 for a few years now, I used to think I could tell the difference. Sadly, my hearing is suffering the results of the ageing process as well and I can't hear any difference now through MC 120.2s or through Sennheiser 650s

If I had neither, I would almost certainly look for a BM 6000 - I think it's the ideal combination of the two, not least because it wouldn't upset my partner so much (she hates the 8000) and because it won't risk damaging your back when moving it.

My apologies then, I had always thought the old one was related to B&O somehow.

On duty for New Year's Eve? I hope not!

I use Mr Clean Magic Eraser with a slight dose of Mr Clean if nicotine is involved.
