Hi Everyone-
I recently obtained a Beosystem 5000 of which I recently replaced the belts on the Beocord 5000 cassette player and the Beogram CD CD 50, obtaining belts through kind folks on this website. I do not have the wireless master control.
My Beogram 5005 turntable arm does not lower to the LP. Both speeds work. The 45 and 33 indicator lights work. I can bring the arm into and away from the record as it is suppose to do. The cartridge does work and I have audio. BUT, when I press play, the arm goes to the beginning of the LP, and instead of lowering, it scrolls to the end of the record and returns to the start position and then shuts off. The service manual is not helpful, as I have not idea why arm wont drop and track. All other functions work as they are suppose to. Any idea what may be the trouble???
Thank You RAY
Pickup cartridge mounted ?Tracking force correctly set ?

Cartridge mounted correctly.
Tracking force is at 1.5 g, #5 cartridge.
Thank you for the belt for the CD player, It now works great!! Tape deck works too, but I think the rewind belt may have come off. No big deal, I play tapes from beginning to end.
Turntable is hooked up to Beomaster 5000. When I select phono from Beomaster, turntable starts and arm moves to beginning of LP but does not go down, yet instead of going down to play, it scans to the end of the LP and then returns to shut of position and powers off. It does the same thing if I start turntable buy pressing the play button on the turntable. Both speeds work ok. LED works.Tone arm does not look like it has been damaged or abused. The cartridge does work and I have audio if I push the arm gently on the turning LP. I have taken the black cover off where the tonearm is and it does not appear anything is broken there.
Any idea what I should check next? Thanks Rj
WOW...I just figured out the problem! Maybe this would be helpful to other Beogram users.
I removed the silver TT platter for a quick look and noticed there was a white rod towards the back of the TT that attaches to the tonearm mechanism. Not exactly sure what this does. To the left of the white rod was a metal clip. I inserted the white rod under the metal clip and replaced the TT platter. THE ARM NOW GOES DOWN!! I assume this is part of the playback mechanism of the tonearm.
The white rod is an essential part of the lift/lower mech.Good job.Now fix that rewind problem in your Beocord !
I have a B&O TX2 with the same problem. The tonearm goes left and right as expected, but doesn't drop. I found the white rod and inserted it in the metal clip. I thought this would fix the problem, but no. I've tried adjusting the counterweight--no change. The turntable has been sitting in storage for quite some time, so perhaps, as someone suggested, the grease has hardened preventing movement? How do I check?
Maybe this post help to find your problem
