I don't really care for the slim profile of these led tvs that come out at the moment, theres so many sacrafices which has to be made which effects the sound of these tvs aswell as the picture due to the slim cabinets.
As mbee has stated the majority of led tvs suffer from clouding and backlight bleed all my point was for a b&0 tv it seemed like a step back in design i'm used to seeing maybe in my view a higher level which definately seperated b&0 from the rest of the pack.
I'm sure they could have designed it in a way that it couldn't compete with the rest of beovision range but at least look like it came from the b&0 stables.
I guarantee you that when the tv comes out it won't look any different from the leaked photos that we are seeing. Yes people are quick to judge myself included before seeing it in the flesh but looking at that design can you blame us.
When it hits the stores or when theres more pictures availible of this tv my opinion about it may change but for now i'm not really a fan.
Beoplay A2
There is a place for B&O products that don't make use of brushed aluminium and look like jewels, but are superior to the mainstream brand for sound+vision.
We have seen that Beosound 8 and Beolit 12 were highly criticized here for their "not B&O" look. And they sell like hot cakes.
And stop complaining about lack of Masterlink : it's a dead technology which can't evolve as it's analogue. Just buy a NAS, put all your movies+music on it, and the V1 will have access to all your medias in any room (I just hope that the control interface is OK : the Loewe Connect ID can do that, but today, browsing thousands of songs with the arrows of the remote is quite painful - an iPad/iPhone app like Sonos could solve the problem quite elegantly). The only thing missing currently is synchronized sound on these new devices (BS5 Encore + this TV) in DLNA mode.

Stefmag5:Surely, You cannot be serious!!! (I am serious -and don't call me Shirley) (quote: Leslie Nielsen in "The Naked Gun") IMO the BV 8 was the worst design from B&O in decades...What's the idea of 'bringing depth' to a flatscreen - when everybody else is making the panels thinner and thinner...

I agree. Who needs ML? The Beolit 12 is terrific. It has become my second most used item at home after my iPhone. The new TV interests me because it looks like it might be great as a bedroom TV. I am thinking of only using the internet for watching TV. This will save me at least $100 USD on cable TV service.

Thanks for the link. I have been listening to internet radio and I am now ready for internet TV. I read recently that in the US, many have been canceling cable TV. If needed, I can always install an antenna for the 35 channels on local broadcast TV.
Razlaw:This article mentions wired and wireless mains?
It is a translation error from spanish (the leak source). You should read wired and wireless networking, with WIFI antenna built in the TV.
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
mbee: I really like the BV8 idea, it makes sense, it's not just look, it's a very good solution for how to do the best sound+vision in a minimal space.

Fair enough -it's a matter of taste. I'm not saying that a tv has to be as flat as possible -there are many other factors that makes a good design. I just never liked the cheap looking plastic design of the BV 8 -and obviously there were not enough people who loved it.Low sales must be the reason why the stopped production of the BV8 before they even had another model to replace it....
B&O are known to have model series run for years and years, as long as they sell. Think about how many years they made the LX and MX series. And the BV7 is one of the oldest designs in the current line of TV's.The BV8 must be one of the products with the shortest life-span. If it was a top-seller it would have run for several more years.
And there are other ways to make good sound in a flatscreen than to build in a big box. E.g. the BV10.
I guess it is official now. The Beoplay V1 has been posted in engadget.

As they said in the story, all these articles are based on the same leak - nothing new...

Thanks! That makes much more sense.
Lordy am in a both phase (always have been) so I go for B&O and Apple!
Steffen: Paul W:Thank you! Yes I did see the IKEA post and I think it's a great idea, I remember a few years ago in my early 20s going through the IKEA phase And maybe one day You'll even get over the Apple phase...

could you sent me some new pictures?
beomaster@live.nl
thx
scognamiglio1969:Guys, I saw some more pictures. IMHO the new tv is a winner. The ceiling support is amazing (4 wires). The materials seem to be more interesting than the poor plastic feeling of the LOEWE. It's a little bit depth but I m sure that this will help the sound (and more over to hide the apple tv). The object is really cool. Great job B&O!!! I can't wait To see it in flesh!!!
sorry no pictures... and I just saw the 4 wires so I don't know anything about how they are connected to the ceiling. About how to hide the cables I made the same question... but I've not an answer...
What I understood is that it's totally a new concept with the screws not hidden... from this point of view it's an "industrial feeling". It's cool.
More over I saw the iPad case and it's really cool... really strange form factor...
koning: could you sent me some new pictures?
Maybe moxxey downloaded the pics he saw last week?
Please describe A3 (IPad speaker)
This is about the stand options from recorder.dk. I agree it does sound cool.
There is room for different stands and feet to BeoPlay V1. The options are: Floor stand where TV hangs low and angled slightly backward. The TV can be pushed from side to side on the stand. Tabletop stand where the TV is vertical, with power lying loose on a shelf in a bookcase or on the floor. Discreet wall where the TV can swivel 180 degrees out from the wall to one side. Ceiling mount, where the angle and height can be adjusted.

Sadly, he didn't....mainly as the forum was in Spanish and I only had a quick glance after running a Google Translate on the page(s).
To me, it looked like a Beolit 12 TV. Grill looked the same/similar. More square than, say, a BV12. Looked high quality. Picture was of the V1 on a wall - but no cables in sight.
On a off-topic sidenote, my dealer is very impressed with the forthcoming iPad controller. He says the audio quality is excellent. However, the price less so - he was saying it will be around £400. More expensive than my iPad 3 :)
Cool! This design is a totally new approach. The only thing is, it looks ALOT cheaper than its previous designs, so i think it's possible the price may be far too high for the audience this is targeting.
Can't wait to see how it performs and what its placement options are...

Oh, I saw those pictures... There were not real photos but photoshopped mock ups made from bits of Beolit 12 topped with a flat screen. I suppose someone had seen real pictures and wanted to represent the V1 TV so he came up with this.

That is very interesting - I am struggling to think of another example ( other than Beosound 8 and Beolit 12 !! ) when an accessory is sold for more than the 'main' product it is designed to compliment.
I'm sure there must be some - but non spring to mind.

I did wonder! As I said, I was on there briefly and it looked like a Beolit 12 TV. They were decent though.
This article has some nice compliments for B and O. Very nice to see the press saying good things about B and O.

Having followed this thread (and the others!) discussing this product, I'm still somewhat confused as to whom it it aimed.
If, as part of the new 'Play' range, it's purpose is to attract buyers who have traditionally not been B&O's customers and will have no other B&O equipment then I have to question whether these consumers will be willing to spend some 2500 Euros for a 40" television when the market is flooded with well built (admittedly not to B&O standards), top of the range, fully specified TVs for less money. As first time B&O customers, by definition they will have no other B&O and therefore as the V1 is not intended to integrate with other B&O products it won't and can't be a gateway to them expanding their B&O integrated equipment as it later became for me with my first product.
So what about current B&O customers who own a B&O TV & audio system such as me? What will they do with a V1; replace their current main TV? I doubt it. Replace one part of a fully integrated audio/visual system with something that isn't? Perhaps it's intended for the bedroom or lounge where 32" or 40" is big enough, but why choose the V1, other than because it's a B&O?
This product should have been able to be fully integrated and controlled within an existing B&O setup, at a lower price than current B&O TVs, but comparable with what Leowe produce for the price. It isn't!
kokomo:If, as part of the new 'Play' range
It is, and B&O, when they announced this sub-brand said all the products will be standalone. So it isn't a real surprise that this TV has no masterlink. And they are many people, in fact a majority of people (who are not B&O customers) who do not need integration. In fact most people do not even know that this is possible.
kokomo:(it) can't be a gateway to them expanding their B&O integrated equipment as it later became for me with my first product.
Well, this TV has speakers output, so you can always buy B&O speakers... and then why link it to a B&O hifi when this TV can (supposedly) play music from a UPNP NAS?
Don't get me wrong... I'd like to buy a cheaper B&O for my bedroom and be able to link it to my main TV. I would also prefer that this V1 comes with masterlink, but I also understand that there is a reason this TV isn't in the B&O range. It is not a Beovision, it is from another brand called B&O PLAY.
p.
Kokomo, I think the secret about the 'Play' range is that it's really aimed at anyone who will buy it. I know the marketing focuses on the younger buyer but according to my dealer, people in all age groups are buying Beoplay products. There are older people shopping in the Apple store which sells the Beolit 12. Some of Apple's most loyal customers are well past age 50 and may not know Beolit 12 is not meant for them.
I never heard of Loewe until I joined Beoworld. Loewe is not available in the US, Canada or probably the whole Western Hemisphere.
Bill
linder:Loewe is not available in the US, Canada or probably the whole Western Hemisphere.
Rather a sweeping statement Bill. It's pretty well known in Western Europe. Or this a case of "We don't know it in the US so that probably goes for the the rest of the Western world"?

It was a broad statement and was meant to be facetious. However the Western Hemisphere in this instance meant the Americas as in North America, Central America, and South America. I think in the 1980's, some of Loewe's products were available in the US for a short time.
Actually the Beoplay V! television looks to me more like something that Braun and Dieter Rams would have designed if they were still in the AV business.
Is there anyone who has seen this television playing and can tell us how good/bad the picture quality is.
koning: Is there anyone who has seen this television playing and can tell us how good/bad the picture quality is.
Bad? Since when has any TV in 2012 shipped with "bad" picture quality? Even a £600 Samsung has a decent picture these days. Build quality, speakers and other components less so. But the picture, never "bad".
Clearly it's not going to be BV12/BV-55 level, but even my old BV8 has a decent picture with a good source.
I own a BV8 too.
The first 32" b8 was really bad! The 40" was good. The Samsung is good with a bluray but with the other signals are awful.
