I'm with Kokomo on this - if Loewe or, heaven forbid, Samsung had produced this as a design I feel it would have been roundly ridiculed.

Ban boring signatures!

Hmm, I just remembered to have read a thread about the cooperation between Intel and B&O, is the B&O Play TV the result of this?

Looks very cool standalone on the floor - reminds me somehow of the smaller MX's when on the floor. I like it very much!

Exactly, the dealer had an old MX on sale and he pointed out jokingly that the V1 was the new version of this! The MX indeed had this chrome wires underneath that allowed you to tilt the TV.

There is apparently another stand that allow you to have the TV vertical.

I´ve now had my first little preview of V1. I saw the black one too. It looks great just like any Beo product. Not cheap at all.  It´s not like Samsung or Loewe. Picture quality seems to be good. A lot of sunshine but no problems.

JUST SEEN THE V1 IN BOTH BLACK AND WHITE AND I LOVE IT!!! BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT, TYPICAL B&O DESIGN!!!

JUST LIKE ART, THIS WILL CAUSE A REACTION.

I saw the black one on the floor and the white on a beautiful table. Must say, the white one is for me. Will i buy? YES!  It's perfect at a realistic-ish price!

Hi Mark,

It looks just like the pics posted yesterday and its looks a real high quality. Havnt seen it in terms of it performing unfortunately!

Then tube chrome holding it an angle looks great too. I'm after the 40" one which I will connect Apple TV to. i believe it will retail at £2500 for the 40" so a bit of saving up to do - I guess my price limit for a TV.

I have been wondering which speakers will visually go best with this new TV

If TV vertical and white, how about white 6000s ?

If TV tilted back and black or tray, how about the Beolab 4000s on those little stands that tilt the speakers back ?

I wonder how B&O will advise its stores to display the TV as a package with certain speakers ?

Hey Elephant, don't get me started on white BL6000's, you know how much I love them!

Maybe the B&O speakers designed for laptops etc which are supposed to be on their way may compliment the looks of this V1.  White BL3's would look nice next to a white V1 on a table / unit.

I HOPE THIS TV HAS THE ELECTRIC CURTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF IT HAS, THEN IT'S PERFECT :)

Never seen you so excited Paul. Does this mean.....you might buy some B&O kit? :)

I'm still indifferent on the V1. Can't see the appeal, but it doesn't disappoint either. Hopefully I'll see it at my dealers tomorrow. B&O kit always looks better in the flesh.

I don't think that white speakers will match as the white V1 looks more cream in flesh.

The black one looks a bit more dark than the grey beolit12's metallic part.

I made some pictures of the unwrapping of the white 40".

It's not bad... but I am sure that I will prefer the black one.

How can I upload the pictures?

What a fantastic TV the V1 is!  I had the honour of setting up a 40 inch Beoplay V1 in black for a friend in the trade yesterday and I was really pleased with the new direction of the Beoplay brand in terms of styling, quality and price.  Whilst the sound quality at high volume levels may not be quite to the same standard as the old Beovision 8 of the same size, in every other respect the V1 beats its predecessor hands down.

The keen pricing means that B&O have effectively outplayed Loewe at their own game, as the V1 hits right at their core market and carries the desirable B&O brand to a whole new audience.  B&O's challenge now is to get the news out there and generate awareness amongst the young, affluent, stylish target customers who will no doubt fall in love with the edgy styling at first sight.

The design of the V1 is certainly not conservative and I think that this will look best in a stylish, minimalist home (so no good for my house!).  I think some B&O stores would do well to find a local art gallery where they can display the V1 as an "exhibit" in a stark, clean space, as the interiors of most dealerships are too "busy" to let the V1 really look its best.

As an Engineer, the use of RJ45 sockets for the infra red STB controller outputs gave me a few sleepless hours, but by 5am today I had an adapter designed to allow standard STB transmitter cables to be used with the V1.  Now, I'm off for some sleep!

Wishing all B&O stores the very best for the launch!

Steve.

True. I got the dates mixed up - it's May 2nd already. So, yes, today! I think my dealer's event is tomorrow though. They didn't have their V1 yesterday, when I checked.

Good points, well made Smile

From some of the whinging here, I wonder sometimes what people expect from B&O - surely a range of entry level(ish) products that compete with the (top end of the) high street is exactly what Denmark have needed to do for over a decade...

This TV has no link ..... partly because its a BeoPlay, not a Beovision, but also because "link" as we know it ( ie cabled, analogue ML ) is just about to retire as far as 90% of users are concerned ... along with LP, FM, analogue TV etc etc.   There may be a niche for ongoing maintenance, but it is going.

In fact - I guess most people under 30 will see the BS8, Beolit12 and v1 as the most up to date and desirable items, and the BV7, Bsnd 4 as relics.

My Avant is linked, but only for audio - so I can see a V1-40 maybe having a role.....

Seriously. People are allowed an opinion, positive or negative. I never understand how some users can't stand or cope with negative comments. Not everyone likes everything B&O produces. We're not machines.

Also, as we know, people change their mind after seeing the products in person.

Absolutely.

With high price usually comes high tech specs or grand status.

I'm not sure with the V1 though...

I must say, I said the Beolit 12 looked cheap and plasticky when I saw pictures online of it. I saw it live in a window and it is pretty neat looking. A bit too expensive though IMHO.

New iPad speaker dock.  Model name is A3, cost is £449:

XUwUEWiu

Personally, I'm not a fan.  The look just doesn't appeal to me and the design really makes it seem like its for dedicated use with an iPad only.  It may have an aux input, but I doubt anyone who buys it would wind up using it that way regularly.  The other issue I see with designs like this is that if Apple makes a significant form factor design change to the iPad, a future model might not fit (though hopefully they've designed it with some accommodation for that).

Picture is good, but and having just walked round a department store to compare, aren't they all. Well made and solid that's for sure, but the stand ruins it in my opinion. A simple easel stand would have been cosmetically better.

There are cheaper better looking tv's for sure which was disappointing and surprising considering some of samsungs recent creations, but the sound is very good even in a large room. If I was going to utilise wire as a stand(which I wouldn't) I would either hide it or make it a feature(quality/colour)

Hope they sell well though.

Philips new range are coming out in september and the mid tier and higher end all sport 5 hdmis too aswell as looking incredibly sleek, i also think that when apple release there tv it will be a rap for the beoplay v1.

The fan base is strong for apple and i think that the design will be well ahead of the v1... the price ratio will be a big factor two as the v1 will be considerably more than the apple tv, i think people will think why buy the v1 when the apple tv will be cheaper and probably sport an even sleeker design just my opinion though.
