Hi there!

First post on this wonderful forum, so here we go... How easy is it to program a Beo4 remote to control a Samsung TV? (Their 8 Series)

I'm looking at running a pair of BeoLab12-2's, a Playmaker and a Samsung 8 Series. My goal is to have one remote for both the TV and controlling the volume on the BeoLab12's. If this means looking into the Beo6 remote, I'm also happy to do so (but would prefer the Beo4 as my first option).

Reasoning behind this task is just the stunning craftsmanship behind B&O's remotes. Beautiful.

Thank you! Jordan

I believe Bosscom make a plug-in or soldier module that allow you to control in that exact manner if you like.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Thanks for your reply BeoMegaMan, appreciate it! Are there any other, less cumbersome options? Or what is it like using the Beo6 with a non B&O TV?

Not really. The Beo 6 can easily handle it as well. The question is if you plan on programming it yourself.

Hmm then, might go for the Beo6! Thanks again for your help.

If you do NOT fear a little software work you can buy a converter box from Lintronic

www.lintronic.dk

Their little box can convert IR signals which means that it can translate the Beo 4 signals into the required Samsung signals. It's some work but it works.
I used it to copy my remotes to make files for the Beo 5 remote which allowed me to control everything that has an IR-port from the Beo 5. :-)

I have modified my BEO4 with this board so my Samsung TV can be controlled. Works flawless.

Controlling is one thing - getting decent sound from the tv to the PM/BL12 is another.

Damn autocorrect.

My question was:

How much does the BossCom PCP board for the Beo4 cost?

Don’t know about Bosscom...

...but if you mean this:

look for yourself.
