I have set up a Masterlink at home which consists of the main lounge room with audio and video components and 5 other rooms Masterlinked to the main room.

On reading the Masterlink information it states that the Blue/white and Pink wires must be joined together.

Does this require doing just at the main room, or does it mean in each of the link rooms? and how do you break into the cable with Masterlink plugs on both ends to do it?

Hi,

It only need to be done somether in the system and can be done by cut Cable and use juctionbox (you must do that anyway to connected more then 2

products..) or you can use ML distrubution box with 6 ML connectors that have this Connection already done

Many thanks for that reply, the problem appears to be the fact that B&O changed the colour codes of the wires in a Marterlink plug and some of my "Tails" are in the old colour code and some are in the new colour code.  Rewireing the plugs seems to have cured the problem and now all the link rooms work great. I really do like the Masterlink set up, so easy to install and infinitely cheaper than a Netlink set up.

Bring Back The Masterlink!!!!!!!!

Hi Ron, don't worry about this. You don't need to break into any MasterLink cables. If you are using the MasterLink junction boxes, they join these two wires anyway. If you are using ready made cables, they will work fine.

Agree that Masterlink works well.

However, if you use the wall terminations/sockets, be very thorough when connecting the leads to the very flimsy small "tubes". I recently realized I had a bad connection when adding a BL3500 into my ML system. The sound was not balanced between right and left speaker due to bad termination elsewhere in the system. I had not noticed that because my other link speaker was a BL2000. The speakers where to narrow to tell.

Hello to all!

I'm also trying to do a maser link setup http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/8653.aspx but still can not decide using ML cables or cat7;

my setup would be serial with 6 or 7 ML sockets; so where would I have to connect which wires that it works?
otherwise using Cat7 cables - which wires would have to be connected in the socket (RJ45)?

sorry, but I'm confused at all

best regards

elmar

B&O recommend CAT7 cables for installations; so go CAT7 for wall installations. I did this and haven't regreted it and bought CAT7 1200MHz cable from Germany. My wiring project can be found here.

Hello kimhav

Thanks for your answer; which wires of the cat7 cable did you connect with the socket? is this important? or have the wires just be the same on every socket?

I'm afraid of connecting anything wrong (ML does have multiple wires than Cat7) and burning down my equipment.

Best Regards

elmar

Thanks Martin! This thread is very helpful!

I have to run the cable from one socket to another because I did not prepare a "star wire" diagram... it is not possible to go this way setting up a LAN but I think it should work with Masterlink?!?!
I would have to connect two wires to each pin of the socket like doing any other electric system.

thanks

Hi Elmar,

Yes, you can do this with masterlink but terminating two cat7 cables to a screened RJ45 outlet could be tricky so you may need to join the cables first so you can terminate a single cable into the outlet.

Martin.
