Hello.

I have been thinking for a while on buying a MLGW or not. My local dealer has given my a really good price, but i am not sure if this is the right product to buy these days?

So my question is what to do?

Someone who has this product and is it worth the amount of money?

I know there is a new Audio Product coming these spring, maybe wait and see?

It totally depends on what you were planning to do with MLGW. What did you want to benefit from by adding it to your system?

It's most for easier control thru the beolink app in each room, and after some time the lights and so on..

But mainly controlling the music, radio, spotify ...

While the MLGW is expensive, I have never installed one and had a customer say I wished I hadn't done that. I think you find that you can enjoy your system on a whole new level with the MLGW.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

What do you mean by this? Did your customer regret buying Mlgw? Or is it a good thing to do:)

Since I have mine, I absolutely think the same thing.

If you own already a bm5, linked rooms with av or audio, it is really interesting

But the most interesting thing is to be able to control your light, camera with the same app.

It is not easy for a newbie to program it especially if you don't have any experience in computer and programming.

If you think you are not able to program it, you should rather use separate app from control4, lutron ...

I would say that buying a b&o tv is a new level , by adding a MLGW it is 10 levels above at least.

I was told that one technician from the shop could install it for me.. But can i build out one room after another in my house? Or is it difficoult for me to do this by my self?

You have to create each room in the soft and add each b&o product inside each room.

Then after you can create button in order to execute specific tasks (called macros)

The tasks called by one button can control the av equipment and/or lights

This is not complicated when you have seen an example.

So yes, you will be able to add other rooms and modify your current installations if you look at the way your technician has programmed it.

You just have to use the ip address of the Mlgw in order to use the setup software.

If you plan to control lights or domotic tasks you will need other skills.

The Mlgw is compatible with Lutron, clipsaĺ, knx or control4 with the recluse av driver but you have to call a specialist in order to make the installation.

In the next months i will have more information about the cost of the recluse av driver and the first control4 equipement needed for the beginning.(wireless with zigbee)

Excellent thread. I am  mulling exactly the same question as Normann with a similar extensive setup. Just not sure if I should wait for the specs of the announced BeoMusic App.

Hi

Where are you living ?

Some Lutron products are ony available in united states for the moment.

The choice will depend on your location and the ability to find a good professional in your area.

For the moment, control4 seems to be the most affordable and more opened system (gateway to other av brands) available. The question is : is it possible to use it in your actual house without spending ten thousands of euros for just controlling some lights at the beginning.

The wireless technologies (zigbee and z-wave) will helps.

I will let you know as soon as I have more information.

Whatever the specs of the new app, you will always need a hardware gateway between the b&o system and your lights system.

A sony receiver is available in the united states with a control4 controller built in.

Unless b&o decide to do the same with his new beosound, you will always need a kind of Mlgw

The mlgw let you the choice (lutro, control4, clipsal, legrand btcino....).

thanks for your answer - inching closer to an affirmative MLGW decision.

I'm also thinking of purchasing an used MLGW to my system for integration to a home automation system.

Is there any possibility to add 3:rd party support for example z-wave controllers (In my case Fibaro Home Control)?
As I understand it the MLGW can be accessed though HTTP PUT and GET commands?

Hello everyone

i am in the same place, I think I would like a MLGW but cannot decide between ML and Beolink gateway.

i can say that I spent thousands of pounds on control 4 and setup. I very quickly decided I did not like the interface or feel of it.

I very quickly moved back to B&O. I had multi room audio and loads of stuff but it just felt second best.

i have an ilight light unit in my lounge that responds to the beo4 I do have the serial interface can the MLGW or Beolink gateway send bespoke serial commands or can it communicate with ilight?

hi seanie!

if the price is okay buy a used mlgw. otherwise a blgw.

you can connect nearly all the the rs232 of the mlgw. (only one!) the blgw has more rs232 connectors (if you need)

you can control not supported devices via custom strings. i control the lintronic TT455-RT-238 via strings over rs232 - so i can control with the beolink app all other devices via ir. or the TT455-RT-238 send ir to the jbmedia lightmanager  -  this is a cheap way to control the light. and so on.
