Beosound 3000 broken? Need help

Hello,

I have a Beosound 3000 and since a few weeks I have very bad sound. I am afraid one of the stereo channels has gone: If I use balance in one direction, there is almost no reaction until the last degree of balance one speaker (Beolab 4000) is mute.

When listing to the Beosound via Beolab 2000, there is no problem. In my understanding this means there is an amplifier issue.

I used the Beosound mainly to play mp3 (Squeezebox) and TV sound (headphone slot)  via AUX. Could that be a reason the system is broken?

Is there a way to fix the Beosound or will that make no sense due to economic reasons?
