Hi all,
I am new on the forum as a beginning B&O-user.
My question is about connection the Beomaster 1500 (2629) to one of the following speakers:
I am going to buy one of them, but what do you think is the best setup and why?
Beomaster 1500 is an underrated amp by many I think, however, there are a number of fans on this forum.
Power output is 2x25W and I'd be tempted by a pair of S45-2's. Great sound and more than enough power for the 1500. Pure sounding speakers and described by many as 'exceptional'. I have a pair and wouldn't swap them for anything.
MCX35's are not the greatest of B&O's achievements. The S55's are a bit bigger than the S45's but I don't think any better. If you want more bass that the 45's you have to go much bigger to get it - i.e. M100's

Absolutely no problem.
I would aim for the S45's

And what would you guys think is a fair price for the Beovox S55 or Beovox S45-2?
It depends on your location.
A member was asking 75 EUR for a pair a few weeks ago (now sold I believe).
If you aren't collecting 45's in person, make sure the magnets are glued (see posts about this) otherwise it's likely they will arrive with locked voice coils.

Meanwhile, the offers have changed and it is likely that I will buy Beovox S75 speakers.
However, they have an RMS of 75 W. Will this be a problem with the Beomaster 1500?
Or is it reasonable to search for an other receiver model?

I'm sure, you'll find it a very nice combination.A stereo setup is no stronger than its weakest link and in the case of Beomaster 1500 that'susually the speakers.It's actually a very well sounding and quite punchy amplifier for its size and (simple) construction.Given a pair of Beovox S75, it will be allowed to show off.

I think I can consider myself lucky then, I got the Beomaster for €30.-, Beogram 3000 for €40.- (incl. repairs) and next monday the Beovox S75 for (amazing) €50.- !
All the specs are very good and you can study them in detail if you like.A too weak amplifier can be far more dangerous to speakers than a too powerful but that's a long and technical story.A general handrule is that as long as you keep the sound clean and without distortion, you won't damage anything.
And yes, you got yourself a bargain or three !
The setup is complete, I've only got a problem with the Beomaster 1500.
Both speaker 1 & 2 have a good output left, but both channels have a weaker bass right.
Is there a reason and solution for that?

Of course there is both a reason and a solution. We just need to find them.
Have you swapped the left/right speakers to make sure the problem is not in a speaker ?Is the problem on all sources ?Does the bass potentiometer have any effect in the bad channel at all ?

The speakers are fine, the problem is on the right side on both channels and the bass potentiometer does decrease/increase the bass level.
Therefore no clue what it could be.
Most likely a dead capacitor.Grab a kit and replace the lot.Check also the idle current trimmers - or just replace them and readjust. They will probably be bad too.It's all very common for a unit this age.
