Hey folks!

I have aquired one of each of these units, but both are dodgy in their own ways!

Firstly, the MCP5500 I have with the 5500 says 'No Contact' and just flashed that continuously... Without that working, I cant really use the amp right? No real front panel controlls....

Any ideas where to start to fix this? Is it likely to be a problem with the MCP or the BC itself?

Ok now the 5000... This turns on and reproduces sound from a source, but turns itself off after about two mins. Could it be overheating? it does get quite hot? Where should I start if thats the case....?

I'll be doing the work myself, so I think I'll upgrade my account here to get hold of any service notes ect.... But what should I be looking for as a cause?

Thanks in advance peeps!!

5500; The remote control can be disabled by an option setting. Make sure the option setting is correct.

5000; Replace the idle current trimmers and adjust the idle current as per the service manual.
Check the soldering of the driver transistors while in there and replace the muting relay if it's still the original one.

Hey

Thats great thanks! You seem to know everything about these!!! Awesome

Is the 5500 option setting 'set' on the MCP or the BM itself? Only info I can find is for using a Beolink 1000 to perform it..?

These are fairly standard issues.

It works with a Beolink 1000, haven't tried it with the MCP, I must admit.

I see...

No way of doing it directly on the BM5500 itself......! Odd in design!

Well nothing I press on the MCP seems to make any difference..... but it could just be duff anyway I suppose, not sure!

I gues I'll try and track down a BL1000 and go from there!

Thanks anyway for all your help.... I have plenty more questions and issues with the other units I have so I'm sure I'll be back with more soon....Surprise

Cheers

Steve
