Well, my BG3000 apparently didn't survive the move, despite being locked and carefully transported with the arm buffered in foam. I set it up today finally, and when either the Turn or Play buttons are depressed, it spins the platter for a few seconds and then shuts down.

Any suggestions as to where to start diagnosing it?

Sounds like a no record present situation.
If a record IS present, I would check the record sensing mech. (center tap).

Duh!

&@#%@&!!!

Now I feel really foolish, it's been so long since I punched a button it without a record on there I had forgotten that. Either that or early onset Alzheimer's is setting in.

It works with a record on...thanks guys!
