Hi,
I've been searching the web thoroughly but can't seem to find any decent review on the Loewe Reference ID 55. It's been on the market for quite some time now...
I do like the design of the loewe, maybe even more than the beovision 11 when placed on a floor stand. I have read that in general, current loewes are much more userfriendly when it comes to recordings, grouping series together. They allow you to search the EPG on a tablet etc.
On the other side, I like the beo4 much more than the loewe remote control. Also the ability to use speakers in other configurations when eg. listening to music is a + for B&O.
There is a considerable price difference as well. Ultimately the idea is to have a set of B&O speakers in the front and back. Not sure whether the tv itself is doing much sound processing? Main content to be played has a5.1 track on it (via an xbmc device).
Anyone any thoughts on the reference ID, compared to beovision 11? or even a BV7-55?
Thanks!

I'm a fan of both b&0 and loewe, and think that you couldn't go wrong with either. It would be based on what you want like and appeals to you more and ultimately budget.
With the release of the new refrence ID and having compared both it and the bv11 i would say that they look about the same to me with the loewe having less motion blur and artifacts due to the new processor and adjustable motion controls.

I'm speculating/guessing here, but before I bought a BV11, I took a look at the Loewe range and asked them about the remote. There's a better remote which is a paid upgrade, which is very similar (or better) than the Beo4? Might be worth checking out.
However, if you like your B&O - like me - then go for a BV11. Far easier to connect to other equipment, offers a superb picture and audio experience, you get the Beo4, can connect to the new B&O speakers wirelessly and much more.
Better still, if you have ANY television you can trade-in against the BV11, you get a hefty discount from the RRP.
Wow, can't believe anyone would buy a Loewe right now. Might as well pick it up in your SAAB and connect it to your Olive 1.

Cruel.
But I did pick up my BV11 stand in a SAAB and still expect those f***ers at Olive to deliver next month.
My SAAB 9-5 Anniversary Sportwagon will be a really difficult car to replace.

LOL!
Too long to list....
Have a look at the loewe r37 masterpiece and tell me where b&0 got there inspiration from? Also the loewe refrence 52 was out before the bv10 came out and i find that they also look very similar.
for out and out design sound and to a point picture quality b&0 wins hands down, but i also feel out of all of the many tv brands when it comes to design aesthetics b&0 and loewe are the best.

My apologies for piling on. I am far too old and wimpy to roll the dice on kickstarter projects, and I love old SAABs. My next door neighbor has 2 convertibles that could be in a museum.
I don't think Loewe copies B&O, if they do B&O are guilty of the same.
In this day and age having a 100% unique design is difficult especially with Flat TV's.

No problem! I think I am similarly too old for kickstarter projects, but every now and then I do irrational things.
My first SAAB 96V4 ran for 25 years with hardly a fault. That car was kept on as a second car, and apart from a period when a company car choice excluded SAAB I always gravitated back to the brand. Don't think i'll be risking a Chinese electric version though!

B&O Avant and BV5 were from the days when B&O excelled at making heavy CRT's and plasmas look thin.
You can see where the BV10's and 11's took their design cues from, but thin screens make it much easier for others to adopt the same approach. I haven't heard the Loewe, but the BV11 has astonishing sound quality without the need for additional speakers.
As a former Loewe owner I have justed switched to a BV11. The problem with Loewe is the quality, both TVs broke down after 5 years and repair is expensive. And...they don't care about protecting your investment. They do not offer any upgrades other than software.
Example...a few months after I had purchased the Loewe for more than 10'000 Euros, CI was changed to CI+. I was stuck with CI forever, no way to update not even for money. B&O are way better in this respect. And repairs are usually fairly priced.
I don't care who copied who, better a good copy than a terrible original.
This last comment is interesting. Loewe currently offers a 5 year warranty on all their tvs.
I've googled this remote thing, it's currently not shown on their website, but it seemed to be part of the previous reference line. A remote with lcd, working in two directions showing what is played and so on.It seems to be replaced by an ipad app (only ipad (maybe other tables), but no iphone). I could ask a loewe dealer whether it is still sold.
But as I understand from the fist answer, the loewe might even be better?
You would be better off asking a dealer they maybe able to help, your talking about the black glass remote with the oled screen?
Will do so, a deeper search on their website led to a page on this remote in the multiroom section, which is the target system for this remote.
Anyway, that aside, it is still hard to find a decent review, let alone a comparison to the BV11.
I'll definitely wait with any purchase until there is more known on the future of the brand. I'm also one of those customers that almost knows more about the product than most salesmen by the time I get to the store. I just like to be informed.
A lively forum like this one is something I really appreciate!
I had a loewe , utter piece of garbage . The UI was unfathomable , the PQ pixellated beyond belief and worst of all the delivery guys brought all the wrong side panels that took 3 months to arrive from Germany
Sent it back and got a refund.
Not surprised they've gone bust.
With the new range they have changed the GUI and it is very slick, I haven't experienced any problems with mine and i disagree when you say loewe are garbage.
Each to there own but i find it easy to use and i haven't seen a picture as good as what i see on mine other than the beovisions and the latest reference ID and individuals models.
I think you had a bad experience flappo but you've done good now by getting a bv11.
Never mind what Flappo says, Markiedee. He has been traumatised by Loewe 10 years ago. These repeating replies pop up every time the name Loewe is mentioned.
I also own a Loewe, 2011 model I think, and find that GUI faster and better to use then the new ones. Picture-wise the BV11 is better, but it’s marginal. The big plus Loewe has is internetradio integrated. Easy access too. Why can’t Beovision’s have this, at all?
About that OLED remote, don’t bother. The 2-way functionality is focussed on music. Not for tv. Covers for internetradio, cd-covers, browse through your NAS and internetradio-stations. Besides that, the new remote have direct buttons to access to the harddisk and add favourites for the homescreen. I do prefer a beo4, but this remote is not that bad.
i recall an interview with the then head of loewe on av forums website where he maintained he had no idea who bang & olufsen were but they would never copy them , despite not knowing who they were ( laughable isn't it ? )
they came over as pathetic and desperate and a wannabee company in search of an identity
how ironic they call their tv ID , the one thing they never had
