Hi there,

Joined the forum today in search of help to identify some B&O items.  I am in the process of buying a house and the seller is looking to sell his B&O equipment too.  I love music and film and have a great setup already with some NAD and Kef Reference items but wanted to ID the items in the photo.  There are 6 of the speakers you can see, I believe the TV is a beolab 7 with soundbar? But the Hifi equipment I cannot ID. I have asked the estate agents but the descriptions are too generic but tell me it contains an amp, tape player, cd player, tuner and turntable?

Any help on this would be great.  Also what are the speakers and equipment like for music, tv and film.  All items are in wonderful condition so any thoughts on what they are worth?

Hope you can help.

Thanks

The stereo looks to be:

Full stack (4 units) Beosystem 5000/5500 or 6500/7000

The hanging speaker is a Beovox RL something

Welcome to Beoworld!

There are a lot of factors that need to be determined before values can be figured out. These are things such as where you are (different countries have different values!), what the condition of the items are, how well they work, and what items they are, their age, etc..

It's way too difficult from a tiny photo

Just look at the front lower left - it will indicate which model Beosystem it is.

The value is 1000 euro. You can of course pay more when you want the house. Regards Joost

Not sure how the figure of 1000 EUR appeared!  If the BV7 and soundbar with stand are relatively new, that figure would be way too low and the TV set-up worth more than that alone.  The component system is complete and depending on condition and which system and stylus it has will make a huge difference.

A complete 5000 system is worth much less than a 7000 system (though I suspect it isn't a 7000 as I can't see a BL7000 - come to think of it I can't see any remotes which could have given a clue).

The owner looks to be a B&O fan as the speakers look to have the desirable coiled speaker cables and mounting poles.

If you are viewing the property, look at the system and report back more clearly and with some more pictures for a better guide.  Of course if they want to include it in the sale at an additional cost, you will want to pay as little as possible for it.  You could just ask the seller what they are looking for and negotiate but only after you know exactly what the system is.

Get more info from them.

Dave.

Well we are all b&o fans and used to pay too much for equipment and then too much to have it restored. I think the value of a 7-32 from unknown year is no more than 700, and the value of the stereo from unknown year 300 euro. I know you will maybe get more when you take the time and sell private and find the right buyer. The ts is however not a b&o fan and when he brings the stuff to a dealer he won't get more than a 1000 euro. And yes I have experience with current offers from b&o dealers.

regards,

joost

Dave and Amazone are both correct.

We don't know what the model/age/condition are and buying and selling prices always differ in a shop etc to meet overheads etc.

If you are intending to savour and enjoy this equipment then offer a 1000 euros as the seller may just not want the hassle of dismantling and taking it away to his or her new home.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Many thanks for everyone's responses. They have been very helpful, next time I visit I will track down some more information.  The house was built in 1995 and I think the seller bought the system at a similar time so probably the 5000 system.  It has a long thin remote and B&O magic eye sensors around the house.

Regardless of the value, would anyone be able to comment on how good the items are musically?  Assuming v.good condition and working order.

FYI - all of the items plus a yamaha 7.1 amp, rel subwoofer, KEF reference centre and 4 x surround speakers are being offered for £1K.  Seems like a good deal to me?

Thanks

Very good deal - the 5000 system - though I suspect it is actually a 5500 - sounds very good. The speakers are a matter of tatste, as all speakers are. Those look like RL60.2s so are best mounted off the floor. May need a look at the crossovers if they sound muffled. Bargain I would say! Having a good system like this though the house is quite a boon. You can upgrade the system to work with newer equipment and also add a link to a computer.

Having a "long thin remote" pretty much rules out the Beomaster 5000.
More likely, as Peter suggests, a 5500 system or at least a system based around a Beomaster 5500.

If it's from 1995, then it would have to be a 7000. The long thin remote would be the Beo4 for the Beovision 7

I would bet on Beosystem 5500 as I have not seen many 6500/7000 for sale with Beovox RL60.2 type speakers and came out at the same time if it was bought together.

The RL 60.2 was replaced by the RL 6000 -which was manufactured up to 1997. So it could very well be a BS 7000 (as Jonathan suggested) with a set of RL 6000. That's ofcourse IF the owner had bought it from new in the mid-90's...

I am bad with the value of the B&O TVs, but after checking basicly all B&O adds in Sweden the last 7 month I can give you a ruff  value from this country.

A complete stack of regular 5000 ( no special editions ) in really good shape goes for about 300-500 euro here.

The speaker sell for about 100 to 200 euros a pair, depending on condition.

Regarding those speaker, they sold massivly in, atleast ,Sweden so they are for sale very often in adds, and sometimes it seems difficult for seller to sell them.

Value is difficult, as there are so many things to consider.
Regarding the 5000 stack, a big factor is the condition an of the pickup, and which pickup is there.
The entire stack can raise 150 euros directly if the pickup is a good one in good shape
