Hi, I have always loved my beo2300, but no longer play cd's as much. Is there a way to stream music to it wirelessly or through bluetooth from my iPhone or iPad ?  I would like to use it, but now it is just sitting around not being used.  Thanks for anyone's help.

Stream from a web radio or iPad etc using a suitable cable with DIN connection to your tape input socket.

Steve at Sounds Heavenly (bottom of forum page ad.) can probably make up a cable for you.

Edit

Or connect an Airport Express or similar for wireless connection. Connect the Beomaster and web radio or Aiport Express to a socket extension controllable by a remote control so that you do not switch off the streaming device and leave the Beomaster switched on.

And if you really want to do this wirelessly then you could connect an Apple AirPort Express to the tape input socket of your BS2300 (or a bluetooth receiver, but bluetooth audio is not very high quality)

Thank you all for your suggestions, but I'm not sure how to connect my wireless connection (non airport express) router to the beo2300?  You say " to a socket extension controllable by a remote control", but I'm not sure how to accomplish this. Could you please provide some detail or examples?  Are the replies to my questions suggesting I have to connect the beo2300 to my wireless router?

What do you mean by a "playmaker" ?  Sorry, but I seem to be a novice at this.

It can be used with the 2300 through the AUX-in as well.

Pretty much all of the solutions suggested are a box which you would connect to your BS2300 via the tape/aux input on the BS2300. It is then this box that connects to your wireless router (wirelessly) and your iphone/ipad then streams to this box via the wireless network.

Hope this makes sense.

Martin.

For Bluetooth I can suggest the very nice Nokia MD-310, see pictures of it in this thread:

Any of the boxes suggested above, eg Apple Airport express, B&O Playmaker, etc.

So for example, you could plug a Playmaker (or any of the other options) into the BS2300, the playmaker will connect to your wireless router (wirelessly), and your ipad will stream music to the playmaker (which will then send it into the aux in of your BS2300 via the cable connecting the two)

I just can't see the point of a Playmaker for what you need. An Apple Airport Express is ideal. It's only $99. Then, for just about $16.00 you can purchase the BeoPlayer app for the iPad or iPhone. This gives you a very "B&O" interface to send music from your iTunes library from your computer (complete with cover art) as well as the same internet radio stations that you would find on the BeoSound 5.

Try this -

eBay item number:
201027134051

Not sure how good they are, but they offer money back if not satisfied.

Saw it today on ebay.

The reason would be sound quality...the Airport has some fairly severe limitations with respect to not only the DAC ts uses but the analog output circuitry that drives the analog sound outputs. The Playmaker DAC seems to sound as good as any I've heard. I haven't blind tested it or such but I find nothing to notice about its sound, it seems transparent. Can't say the thing about the Airports I've heard, though they can be setup to drive an outboard DAC easily enough, and you don't need that expensive a DAC, which makes me think a lot of the sonic issues are due to the analog circuitry and power supply in the Airport.

You could get an Airport, and a cheap DAC, and still come out cheaper than the Playmaker I think, if money is an issue.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Something like this:

Probably you could even 'power-feed' it through the usb-port of the AirPortExpress.

There are several extension lead sockets available in the UK that have an IR sensor that is intended to power-off your TV completely rather than leave the TV on standby: you tune the sensor to pick up your TV's remote ON/OFF command, and the socket will power off a few seconds after the TV shuts down. None of this is advisable with a B&O TV though (see separate thread on that topic) but it's useful if your web radio or streaming device has a remote control because you can make sure that your Beomaster switches off automatically when you power down the streaming device. Otherwise there is a risk that you switch off the net radio but leave the Beomaster on.

Hi, what cables would you recommend from the beo2300 to the apple airport express? Would a din-7 to 3.5 audio jack work without any degradation in sound or do I connect it to the USB or Ethernet port on the airport express?  I've been only able to find cables from din-7 to female rca, but no male rca to either ethernet or USB.

Greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
