Dear all,
I think I decided to move on, sell my Beomedia and buy a BS5E.
I have all my music on a NAS, Want to listen to Internet radio stations (must be easy that also my wife accepts it. Streaming from any iDevice is a no go) by just one button and want to believe in that MOTS does what B&O says. I have BL3 and a BL11 connected to my current BS3200 which would be replaced then.
Now I wonder if there is any good reason to not buying this device?
Can you also tell me the current price of it? Is there a table stand which brings it up for around 30-40cm?
Thanks a lot for your ideas.
Heribert

I must say this appeals to me too. The idea of streaming radio through apple products seems unnecessary and I do want to get NAS etc sorted. I believe the price is £2500 .

Hallo Heribert,
please do remember that you can not 'link' the Encore - it is a standalone product.
(unless you use a 'PowerLink Switch' to connect it and e.g. a BV to the same loudspeakers.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I think a good reason not to buy an encore is the playmaker or essence once it comes.
If you have an iphone or an ipad it's not the worst choice to just stream from them
I am still getting a lot of new music and to keep manually feeding and updating the encore/nas could get old over time.
I like the way spotify/itunes sync across my devices and I just can throw it on the playmaker.
Only issue I have is that my router/playmaker are not 100% compatible but am planning to switch to a different router soon.
Cheers
JK
The Encore was an attempt by B&O to provide a better price-point. However, B&O has subsequently abandoned the Encore. What is horribly misleading is that the Encore LOOKS like the full BeoSound 5, but it is not. The Encore lacks three important features (which the full BeoSound 5 has):
1) It is a stand-alone product that does not allow for future expansion throughout your home.
2.) It does not provide the 2-way search functionality with the Beo 6 remote.
3.) It does not support Spotify, which is a great feature for the full Beosound 5.
While it costs a little more, the full BeoSound 5 instead of the Encore is a better buy.

Heribert wrote "Streaming from any iDevice is a no go".
That is why I did not mention the Playmaker/Essence solution.
Personnally I would not buy a Ecore.
If it had to be 'a screen with some wheels', I would - like beojeff - go for the BS/BM5.
The streming does not pass my wifes "good will". I already have the Airport Express on my BS3200, but she never uses it.
The Essence is also without screen and / or direct access to any Internet or NAS Musoic? As I understood it is a "better" Sonos System, correct?
Thanks,
Hi Heribert,
the Playmaker or the Essence is without screen - yes!
But they depend on a screen and an app as userinterface - instead of the built-in screen of the BS5/E the iPad/iPadMini is 'the screen'.
Using an iPhone can only be an additional - not the primary 'remote', imo!
I would even recommend a 'dedicated iPad' for controlling the Playmaker/the Essence..
When the Essence soon will be for sale, there will also be a new (iOS/Android) app from B&O (BeoMusic). The 'knob' is just for the main controls of this device (play/skip/volume..).
Whether you prefer the stationary screen with the wheel/pointer interface of the BS5 or the touch interface of a tablet will depend on your personal preferences.
If one uses the 'system' in different rooms, the mobile tablet solution would be the better choice.
It seems to me that you prefer using 'your system' in one room only.
If you don't care for music services like Spotify or the possibily of using a Beo6 to control it, the Encore might be a reasonable choice for you.
For just playing your own (NAS) music and for listening to internet-radio in a single room the Encore could be the solution for you.
There is no doubt to me that the Encore now has reached its 'end of life' - but if is usefull to you, that should be no reason not to buy it.
Greetings Millemissen
Heribert: The BV11 is also stand alone (without linked products) now but can access NAS and Internet. So it has all I need.

But the BV11 internet browser does not support internet radio streaming.

Just some comments...
1. the Beosound 5 Encore is nicely built, I like the wheel, too,
2. if you have - let's say a few hundred - CDs stored on a NAS and listen to web Radio - perfect.
3. BUT: >1.000 CDS... it might not be such an easy Navigation.
4. You could attach a Sonos to use spotify, even with ipad remote control.
5. BUT - it Looks strange with sonos - the line-in is on the front...
6. and you will find out once you use spotify, you won't need your CDs anymore (if you are happy with NON lossless files, as I am)
7. so we got a beosound (hidden away) with sonos attached to aux and use spotify...this way Radio = FM Radio. and we could digitize the CDs and put them on a NAS and use sonos to Play the files... but, see 6.
8. if you ever experienced sonos and / or spotify app on the ipad you know how easy Navigation can be, you won't accept anything less...

I'm affraid I have to agree with kallasr. Just buy a sonos connect and you will never miss your b&o audio system. I currently still have my 9000 because i liked it very much, but in daily use it's just a pitty that I can't control my audio completely from the ipad, and have to switch on the 9000 every time and control the volume with beo4 or 6. That's also the reason that I don't understand the essence and 'the knob'. I cannot think of a reason that I would want to have to use two remotes instead of one. By the way, the sonos connect has 'the knob' built in on top of it, direct volume control and play/pause. A dedicated Ipad (mini) is a good idea.
Regarding the encore. I don't know what functions are supported on a remote control. Can you browse through your music or do you need to go to the encore to select a song?

There are tons of possible 'music-machines' out there.
How about this one:
http://www.aurender.com/products/s10.html
The iPad control-app is one of the smoothest on the marked.
Perfect if your preference is 'your own local stored music'.
Make your own choices!
I still use my plain old Squeezebox Touch controlled by the Squeezepad app (or iPeng app).
Access to my own music (from NAS), services like Spotify and netradio all in one interface.
But I am looking forward to seeing how the new B&O app (BeoMusic) will work with the Essence-box.
The 'knob' might even be a nice ad-on - if you don't have the iPad in front of you, and you just want to change the volume level or skip a tracks (all the basic stuff).
Maybe it will even work with a Beo4 (if the ir-port 'for future use' will be activated).
Connected to an A-AUX of a BeoMaster - just like possible with the Playmaker - it might even be 'a hit'.

@stUrrock
I'd love to - but have no plans at the moment.
Perhaps we could meet some time in Denmark - - in Struer
All you need for learning from another is an open mind!
Sounds a bit philosophical - but it's true.
