Hi, I have a number of IP cameras around my house, so have tried to connect them to the ML Gateway with minimal success. One camera type works fine; a Trendnet IP400, and I get a static picture out of Trendnet IP201s, and nothing out of any other cameras including Dericams. I know the MJPEG streaming is working because I use the cameras with the ICam app to view multiple cameras on iPad and iPhone. I wonder if anyone else has the same experience? How do you think I can get B&O to fix this as it looks to me that they really haven't tested this properly.

Actually I've set it up with a number of different cameras and it just works as long as you get the right URL for MJPEG streaming.  Technically you should set the output to 320x240 but I currently have it working at home and the shop with a 640x480 camera.

If it's a 201 and not 201w the URL in the MLGW config should be http://your_login:your_password@xx.xx.xx.xx/goform/capture/video.cgi

I'd bet anything that it's in there right now without the "video.cgi" part of the URL (which is the MJPEG stream without video!).  I couldn't find the streaming URL for the 201w but if it's not the same thing I'm sure a quick Google search will give you the answer you're looking for.

Good luck!

Alex,

Very helpful! Yes, I had missed out the /video.cgi. I'm now getting a picture on these 201's, but there is a black bar across the centre of the picture saying

'Error loading camera

Please check your configuration"

It looks like it is getting a single frame, then stopping.

So... one step forward!

BTW, I've found a good resource to find the MJPEG output of cameras - This is the wiki for the Trendnet series for example:

You know ... try changing the output to 320x240 in the camera settings.  The black bar sounds like it might be something from the camera and not the BeoLink app.  Also make sure the login and password are correct at the beginning of the URL.  If that doesn't work then you'll want to input the login and password under "global authentication data" and remove it from the URL.  This will mean that you'll need to keep the logins and passwords consistent throughout all of the cameras.

Also ... you might want to see if you camera has a separate "low resolution" URL.  That might solve the issue as well.

Hey Guys,

Is there any more general documentation on setting up IP cameras with the ML Gateway? I'm not even sure where you'd PUT the URL of the camera on the MLGW.

Thanks!

First step is make sure the firmware is up to date.  Then when you go in to Programming => Devices you'll see IP Camera as an available device.  It's quite like setting up virtual buttons.

@Alex, Thanks,

It isn't an authentication issue as I have the login details as part of the global setup - and I get the first image anyway. I've tried different resolutions and that didn't make a difference either. I guess I'll have to just wait for newer software versions to see if they update this software.
