Dear members,

my Beogram 7000 has an Axel retipped MMC2 and sounds great. However, today, suddenly a problem has occurred. When playing a record everything is fine. Also, wenn spinning the plate without a record on it, total silence. But when a record approaches the end and I press standby, then suddenly there is a pretty loud creaking before the tonearm moves to the right and the Beogram turns off. The same happens when the record approaches the end and I press stop as long as the plate still spins. Sounds almost like sound effects from a horror movie. The only horror I'm afraid of at the moment is the one in my wallet ...

Any ideas what the cause might be?

Greetings,

Kai

Correction. The noise appears only when the record approaches its end but independently of whether the needle has contact with the record or not.

Any ideas?

Kai

Sounds like the subplatter is scraping on something.
You must find out what it is.
Maybe an adjustment to the leaf springs is what is needed.

Thanks Martin. Sounds like a rather minor issue then. But still an issue...

How do you adjust the leaf spring? Can I do that myself or is some special knowledge needed?

It's all in the service manual.
But lift off the platter and take a look at it.

It will be the platter height that is incorrectly set.

To adjust the leaf springs and hence the platter height you will need a small Philips/Pozi screwdriver and the know-how, which you will find in the service manual available to silver/gold members of the forum.

You will find it easy to upgrade your membership, download the requisite manual and study the way to do it, with pictures!
