I could not download the press release from the B&O site (why?), but you can find more here:
http://article.wn.com/view/2014/02/04/04022014_Bang_Olufsen_targets_growing_integrated_home_techno/
In the article on another website there is a picture of the device, but it is rather small. You can't recognize the connections of it.
I guess this is going to succeed the MLGW - but can it be used instead of the NL-ML-converter as well?
Does anyone know more?
Greetings Millemissen

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Yes just seen it myself. Sounds very interesting, wonder what the price is?
Beolab 28s Beolab 9s Beolab 12-3s Beolab 1s Beolab 6000s 2 pairs Beolab 4000s Beovision 7-55 Beovision 10-40 Beoplay V1 32 inch Beovision Avant 32 inch Beosound 1 (CD player) Beosound 3000 Beosound 5 Core Essence MKII Beoplay M5
So, the MLGW becomes obsolete? I thought about getting one but after reading that...!?Or will a MLGW AND a BeoLink Gateway be necessary to combine old ML and new NL systems?
So we need a NL-ML converter also to make the "old " ML system to integrate with it? Not the MLGW and the new Beolink Gateway connected together i suppose?..
Edit:
This is what they say about the connections:
"At first glance, BeoLink Gateway is an unassuming affair with just a few connections: Master and Network Links that connect to Bang & Olufsen's own BeoLink ecosystem, and Ethernet and USB ports that connect to third-party control systems and devices."
So this also works with the old ML system
It has ML. You can see it in the picture, and it's mentioned as well.
"...just a few connections: Master and Network Links that connect to Bang & Olufsen’s own BeoLink ecosystem, and Ethernet and USB ports that connect to third-party control systems and devices."
Beoworld app with direct photo upload and emoticons.
So no need for the NL/ML-converter any more?
My quess is: No, there is not! (if you need the 'homeautomation integration' in your setup).
But my guess is also that the price will be above that of NL/ML-converter....
....because it has the functionallity of the MLGW and the NL/ML-converter combined in one device.
Looking forward to futher information.
By the way - did anyone notice that the BSys4 was 'announced' as well - probably because of the new/additional 'cinema solution' feature!
MM
This isn't a NL/ML converter, you can connect the ML if you have a ML network or the NL if you have an NL network. But this is in no way a converter.
The ML Gateway had the 2 connections as well and wasn't a connector.
Millemissen:By the way - did anyone notice that the BSys4 was 'announced' as well
Where? Link please!
http://www.bang-olufsen.com/the-company/press
@Phil - thanks for clarifying - but I still need some more details to understand the product.
@Steph - the files still aren't downloading from the B&O-site (at least by me).
@Phil - BSys4: it was mentioned in the link I posted yesterday (first post) as well.
But there doesn't seem to be anything new (to us) about that.
Only to make it clear: The NL Gateway is the successor of the ML Gateway? So I better wait for the new one to use "old" ML stuff for home automation integration!?
Have a look - go straight to 5.45!

The MLGW was/is required as ML could not talk directly to IP (or RS232).
With all new TVs controllable from IP this could be done with systems such as Crestron, C4, RTI to name but a few. I fail to see the point in this new device, why re-invent the wheel?
UNLESS, of course, it will give easy, full control and zoning of music sources within a B&O ecosystem.
StUrrock: UNLESS, of course, it will give easy, full control and zoning of music sources within a B&O ecosystem.
That is a good point!
But that should be possible with the BeoRemote app too.
I see the need only for those, who need 'home automation'.
UNLESS it would include control of the ML-sources in addition to the NL-sources.
I suppose this is another piece of the great Bang & Olufsen puzzle. The puzzle is the new NL audio device to replace the Beosound 5, a new Link gateway, and how all of the works together in a whole house system. I have been planning on updating my system but have been concerned that things will be more complicated rather than easier. NL/ML converters are absolutely something I don't want.
I noticed in the video this new Beolink gateway requires a professional installer. If it's easier, why do I need a professional installer?
Bang & Olufsen should hurry or many newer technologies will pass them. I recently installed WiFi controlled light bulbs in some older Artemide lamps. They are from the LIFX company in Australia. These light bulbs are really amazing. Will the new Beolink gateway control WiFi devices.
do we know the price od this gateway

Ikatu and the BeoLink Gateway:

did ikatu ever have heard about wearable microphones? The video really suffers from nearly dilettante audioquality... I hope they've put much better efforts in the BLGW itself ;-)

Agree, this video is amateurish in every sense, as the MLGW videos already were....:(
Soundwise maybe subtitles would help...(?)

I was in a B&O shop Tuesday and a dealer said that the enhanced menu overlay for the BLGW to control lights from the tv screen will be added to MasterLink TVs as well as NetLink TVs via a software update this October.
The dealer also indicated that the beautiful brushed aluminum iPad frames for mounting an iPad in a wall might become available for customers in the future. The brushed aluminum frames with "Bang & Olufsen" printed on them have been in high demand by customers, he said. Currently, they are only available to dealers. I would definitely buy these.

mjmedlo:First time I've heard that the masterlink tvs will have it. I have seen it in the NL televisions. That would be great if ml tele has it too.
The dealer stated that the enhanced menu overlay work work with MasterLink TVs as well as NetLink TVs. However, he said that it would only work with the BeoLink Gateway and not the MasterLink Gateway.

I'd sure like to get the inside info on it!

I wouldn't want to get a particular dealer in trouble for leaking details. However, I will say that the person in the shop who told me this was someone from the corporate office who was visiting that shop. I asked him specifically about the BeoVision 10 and the BeoSystem 3, which I already own. They weren't trying to sell me a new tv. He was very clear to point out that these features of the enhanced menu overlay will not be added to the old MLGW.
mjmedlo:I have the overlay on my bv11 and v1s now. It is cool!!!
Picture, please...
How do you bring up the overlay menu from a network link tv. I have a Beoplay V1-40 with all the latest software and the new Beolink Gateway. Do you need to do some more configurations on either side?
spezializten:Hi It is not possible to see the menu from NL Gateway yet. but will be possible after the next software release. (due in December) It will then be possible to see the IP camara and operate all function buttons like the web interface on the NL Gateway. HI!
How do you participate in the beta testing? I'm working for Bang&Olufsen but I've totally missed this information.
