Hi guys, my impact twin sound card just died...

I've used it as an external sound card, being fed a Firewire signal from my Mac Mini, thus taking over as master clock and then fed the Beolab 5's the 16bit 44,4KHZ signal they thrive on.

Any suggestions?

Should I just get a new one, or should I just skip it and go the Encore route? Or any other good external card (digital, as I don't want to feed them a analogue signal)

Any smart way of controlling the Encore if I would choose to go that way? Is there and iPad app similar to the remote app for itunes?

Too long to list....

Just surfed B&O homepage... Is it me or does the Encore lack a SPDIF output?!

Encore = no digital output.

I am not aware that the Encore could act as a renderer (as the BM/BS5 can), so no app control.

If you are used to play your files from the MacMini, just buy a usb-sound card/dongle with coax output.

There are really a lot of those out there at resonable prices.

If your files are organized with iTunes, use the Remote app on an iPad to 'feed' the BL5's.

It can hardly get better....

...unless B&O comes up with something special.

Note: the Essence won't have digital-out either.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thanks MM! I guess I need to get a FW sound card again then. I'd like the Encore, but the remote thingy put me off, and the no digital output...

The Beosound 5 is a lot of money and dated, so not an alternative.

One other option is the m2tech hiface 2.

great usb to spdif interface.

impact twin us a bit better, m2tech hiface is cheaper.
