Hi guys,
The tonearm on this Beogram 8002 is moving very slowly. What do you think could be happening? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Do you mean that it moves slowly when you press the fastforward and back function?
if that is, could it be the adjustment of the two black screws under the operating panel?
Hello.
Not exactly, it moves slowly when you hit play, the movement of the arm to the starting point is VERY slow. Same thing when it goes back after the record has ended...
These are just suggestions, based on my limited experience with a 8000...
- it could be that something is blocking the carriage from the bottom
- it could be that the belt for the motor of the carriage ( in the top right corner) is slipping
- it could also be that the threaded shaft for that carriage needs to be lubbed
- Do the caps are originals? If so, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change the lot. Don't know if it can cause your symptoms, but bad caps can cause a lot of strange things
I had somewhat had a similar problem last year, it was a small teflon pieces, about 2/3 cm that felt from the bottom of the dustcover. The carriage was dragging it...
There's also lot of info about these decks on this site, especially in the archived forum..
