I am preparing for a rebuild of a Beomaster 1700 Type 1701 which came in this week. I get these from ebay so the condition can be a bit random. This one is quite interesting as it actually powers up and works, but sadly someone in the past has removed the 4 wheels for the tuning and volume belt control. Is it at all possible to source replacements? It is looking at the moment as though I may have to make a set of wheels for this machine. Can anyone help with the dimensions as the service schematic doesn't seem to provide these.
Worst case scenario is that I will have to measure up and guess, but if anyone has the dimensions for these that would save me a lot of trouble.
Overall condition of this beomaster is not too bad. It works, which counts for a lot. I did have to fix a problem with the control panel, which is probably why this machine was used for spare then discarded, but after a rebuild (including replacing a lot of components and thoroughly cleaning this beomaster) it will be in relatively good condition. Just a couple of light scratches on the glass panel. Oh I will have to replace the slider belt for the volume as it is split, but I can get these easily. Other than that, this is one of the tidiest B&O music systems that I've had in.

I am just about to go down the Beomaster 1700 type 1701 path myself. How did you find the rebuild. The one I am buying is in very good condition but I have read that the tractor mechanisms to fail. You mentioned that you had replacement rubbers for it - wow! Where on earth did you find those? If you have any information or hints I would really appreciate it.

Hi Colin, thanks for your message. To be honest, the rebuild hasn't gone as well as planned. Replacement rubbers was the easy part, I have used generic wide rubber belt which fit the dimensions of the original. The tractor wheels have been a nightmare, dont even try to find replacements, they are next to impossible to locate. The best option is to make a set from scratch. This is proving difficult for me as I don't have measurements to work to. Apart from that, the rest of the beomaster now works well. Ideally to complete the work I need detailed photo of the tractor wheels and measurements, failing that I have a working fix that may work as an alternative.

in some of my stock parts box, I have a set of NOS rubber belts from a B&O dealer. I'll try to find them and take some measurements etc. Might take me a few days. If you don't hear from me by Saturday - remind me by PM.

I have found the new belt and a pair of rollers. I'll take pictures in the light tomorrow and take some measurements if you still need them.

Let me know Bjorn if you still need photos and measurements for the rollers. I just got a Beomaster 1600 on USA eBay which is nearly the same as the 1700. This one is in really great shape except for the rubber belts which are pretty scratched up. Looks like someone with very sharp fingernails had a go at it. I will be taking it apart soon and could make the measurements.
I read on the archived forum that someone replaced their belts with automotive timing belts but couldn't remember the automobile they were for. Anyone have a source for the belts?

apologies for the delay. Here are a couple of photos and dimensions. If you need anything else, just let me know.
The length of the belt measured on the inside smooth surface is 428 mm. It is 31.6 mm wide.
The thickness of the belt at the thickest part (to the tops of the raised areas/finger grips) is 1.98mm. The actual raised 'finger grips' are 27.6mm total width across the main band and the plain areas at the edges of the main band are 2.0mm wide. Each of the raised bands are 2.14 mm thick.
For the drive wheels, they are 35.20 mm diameter at the largest point (they are slightly convex along the central seam line). They are 34.95 diameter at the outer edges. They are 27.90 mm wide. The axle is 6.85 mm diameter which narrows to 4.48 mm diameter. The widest part of the axle is 2.54 mm in length from the wheel centre on both sides and the thinner axle which continues is 4.62 mm long to the tip of a point on the shortest length and the opposite side is 13.68 mm long which is then split to accept the brass collar. I may have to draw this and include the dimensions as it's confusing to me and I've done the measuring!
