I have recently acquired a Beomaster 3000-2. Two of the bulbs are out on the front panel, but otherwise the amp is in great condition. I desparately want to restore the amp to its full, original working state, but I understand from my service guys that, not surprisingly, B&O dont supply these parts any more and that they are not standard parts that can be purchased off the shelf any more. Does anyone out there have any spares/old parts or a suggestion as to any companies that I could approach to custom-make some replacements. Thanks

This is what I did when I had a Beomaster 3000-2 light bulb issue: I replaced it with a SMD LED that I soldered to a 680- Ohm current limiting resistor, which just fit into the light bulb socket...here are some pictures:

In fact, I think I may have sourced some replacements from a vintage fan in Denmark, but this is a great plan B.

RS Components carry them in stock! I bought six ( I collect 3000/4000 Beomasters - eight at present!) for 'two thirds of not a lot' - changing a dud bulb for a new one is a doddle.

Hi Danny (no relation I assume), thanks for the post point us to RS. They have lots of them with different current ratings, which did you find the most suitable?
I can't find any current specs on the one I took out of my 3000.

Lamps are 6v 80mA - piece of cake to fit - simple push-fit.
The 3000 and 3000-2 receivers seem to me to produce a smoother sound compared to the 4000. I still use the 3000-2 I bought new in 1973 and it is as good today as the day I bought it.
That said, all three are great pieces of 1970's HiFi at its best, both in terms of design and performance and apart from the odd lamp bulb failing, are totally trouble-free if used on a regular basis.

I don't know where you have these specs from, but they are wrong.In Beomaster 3000 and 4000, the ON, Stereo and discriminator lamps are 14.8V 30mA.The S-meter illumination lamp is 6V 30mA in either W2 or axial type depending on the brand of S-meter fitted.

New to the forum, and interest in B&O vintage equipment. I'm trying to restore a Beomaster 3000 type 2402 and a Beogram 4002 TT. I'm first tackling the Beomaster 3000: All looks good, brought it up with variac, and checked inputs, tuner, etc all with headphones and all looks o.k. But all the display lights are off. So my question is: Is it possible that all bulbs are off? (power, stereo, tuner dial) or something more important is happening here, and how do I access the bulbs in the front panel display? silly question probably, but this is my first attempt with B&O gear. Thanks in advance!!

The lamps can be accessed by removing the top cover, you will see them when you look inside to the rear of the relevant lens covers. They have small square black holders with wires soldered to the connection tabs, with long nosed pliers, or strong tweezers these square holders can be eased backwards untill they clear the mounting tabs that hold them in place.....very easy to do.

While waiting for a response from you guys, something unfortunate happened: Everything sounded good, but left it on and kept using it for a couple of days and the unit just gave up on me, have a very weak signal through tape and tuner is virtually dead. May this be a cap issue? Power supply big caps? Thanks in advance!
There are lots of reasons for this kibd of behavior, as you say you used a variac to power up initially this suggests you have an understanding of what goes on under the covers? try looking through previous posts and carrying out power supply checks first, can you set the quiet current corrrectly? have a look in the maunal section of the site for the circuit diagram and see if it makes any sense....if not it may be worth seeking the assistance of someone local to check it out for you.
