Hi
Just bought a Beomaster 901 which works great except for the lamps, which seems to be broken. I've been searching for replecement lamps but I've had some troubles identifying what kind of lamps i need. They look like they have bi-pin sockets, but really small. Does anyone know what kind of lamp this is and where I can get replacements?
Contact Martin (Dillen on this forum) he will provide the correct ones (2 types), and take a look here, if you want your 901 working for some more years.
And welcome to the forum, and don't hesitate asking for help, we are very helpful
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Those are T5 glass sockets, the lamps you need are 2x 12V 30mA for the tuning indicator and 1x 12V 1W (85mA) for the stereo indicator.
No idea where you are, in Germany I'd recommend:

Great site and very detailed, shipping costs however

Don't buy those cheap chinese 1000h types unless you really enjoy replacing lamps.Buy decent long-life types, preferably with a ceramic socket that won't break when you pullthem out again many years from now.I can supply if you can't find them elsewhere.

There are glass socket lamps with ceramic sockets? Never heard about that. Couldn't find any pictures either? Just curious as to how you would even produce something like that.
Anyway, the lamps I linked to are most definitely not 1000h types. The same ones are used in the dashboard illumination in my car, I replaced them 3 years ago and they are still fine.
If you are happy with them then by all means buy and use them but when I'm doing repairs, striving forquality work etc. I won't use them. And at that price, they most definitely are cheap chinese.Decent quality lamps are a bit more expensive, around 2 euros each if you buy bulk as I prefer to dobut you'd only need three and if you add the postage cost, which is also in the 2 euro range, you will see that the ending price will be about the same.
You are welcome to fit whatever you like, I'm just providing advice based on my own experience.I'm not making any profit on any of my belts, lamps, kits etc. (quite contrary in fact, prototyping and customproduction is not cheap) so I have no economic interest in selling and frankly, I couldn't care less whereOP buys his lamps. He asked for advice and we've both given ours.
Here's a photo of the lamps I use.Sorry for the lousy quality. If it was better, you could also see that the filament is longer andsupported by two carriers 'poles' inside the glass envelope for protection against vibration etc.I (almost exclusively) use this type of lamp for T5 mountings, 20.000h if I remember correctly.
And don't forget the colorfull and usefull workinstruction(s) Martin is providing when buying these lamps/belts. It's worth the money!

Nearly all items you buy from Martin comes with very clear instructions, so my advise is, for your 901: Buy lamps, caps and at least the 32 volt preset and the 2 presets for no load current.
Thanks guys. There's obviously a lot of B&O knowledge on this forum.
I learned a lot about my 901 by browsing Sørens thread. To bad the pictures are missing though.
would you share workinstruction(s) on changing lamps on 901???? THX
Will be back with pics and and instructions later today, mex time
The front panel looks like one piece, but is actually 3 pieces, upper and lower part is attached with each 2 plastic pins through the side frame, pull out the pins with a small plier or lever with a screwdriver. The top part comes out with the stereo and tuning lamps attached, lever them out and disassamble if needed (change of bulbs ??), the bottom part comes out with bass, treble and balance sliders attached.
Go here to be able to see the pics in the old threads
THX shell try it
