I have had endless problems with Beocom 5. Now many are solved but range continues to be a problem. Has anyone any knowledge of a range extender that will work with it?

Hi, i have same issue and so far  i cant get it sorted, despite several recent software updates. when i moved one of my to conservatory room, it sometimes failed to ring as it had lost connection. Now,  i live in a typical 3 bed semi, so we are only talking a distance of 10 to 15 metres....personally its the most disappointing piece of equipment i ever bought....i dumped a ugly but great panasonic hands free phone system to install this one and i bitterly regret it.

Anyway, try a software update with ur dealer and it may help you. it did solve some issues for me, but not this issue of connection and disconnection (solved issues of poor sound, echo etc)

best of luck.

I also had issues with the Beocom 5 disconnecting from the base. Multiple software updates have resulted in no change to this situation.

However, I persisted with my dealer and he opened a case with B&O HQ. Result? B&O said try and brand new Beocom 5, as it might be a hardware issue. We did, I have a new handset and, since then, not had a single dropout. Strangely the audio quality as improved, too.

Goes to show that there might be design issues with older Beocom 5's that simply cannot be fixed with a software update. My advice is persist with your dealer and insist on getting hold of a brand new handset - my guess is B&O have fixed something and, rather than recalling the handsets, they will replace on a case-by-case basis.

Are you sure that they have done a modification moxxey?

There are No different verslons of the PCB boards available.

I'm assuming that's the case simply as it came via the advice of B&O HQ - change the device rather than software update. That comes across as "sounds like a faulty handset" and, since replacing, I've not had a single issue.

Manufacturers are always tweaking hardware. We forget that software can only control the current hardware and can only fix so many issues. For instance, when I owned a BV7, I was forever having software issues. However, I also had two major issues which couldn't be resolved by software and B&O switched out the TV.....twice.
