Got a BM 7000 ( and peripherals) that I just hooked up to a BeoSystem3 via a Beolink Converter box (1612):

BM7000(Audio Option0) TV/AUX ->AUDIO AUX LINK on Converter box-> Masterlink-> BS3 (Video Option 2)

Beo4 control and audio are great.  Everything works EXCEPT for this:

Manual control of the BeoMaster components do not trigger the BS3 to activate when in standby.  Ex. Walking into the room and hitting play on CD player.

Could this be a limitation of this configuration and/or the converter or am I missing something?  All the cable pins are present.  Should I use different connections?

Thanks

A Powerlink cable should help. Connect the cable to powerlink out of your BM7000 and the Powerlink socket of the converter.

That worked!  Thanks Stefan.  Don't know why I didn't think of using two cables but it makes sense in a "round trip" sort of way.

That is the only reason for using the 'extra' cable (the PL).

Personally I never used it - I don't need the function that you were looking for.

Therefore I have the possibility of sitting next to the BeoMaster with headphones connected - just hitting play on the cd-player activates the Master, but NOT the video-system with the attached speakers.

So both ways it can be usefull.

Edit! It just occured to me - I have a BM4500 as Master. The BM7000 is 'limited' because there is no manual control of the volume. Means 'my solution' would not be usefull in your case.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hi, I have a BM6500 hooked upto BV8 via converter, pentas IIs are connected the BM as when connected via the TV the sound was nowhere near as good - is this because I didnt connect a PL cable to the converter?, If so I will buy one!

Glad that it works. ThePowerlink cable just uses the Datalink wire to "tell" the converter when your BM is activated. This information will be sent from the BL converter via Masterlink to your BS3 - that`s all..

No. The Powerlink cable won`t do anything to the sound - unfortunately. As said, only the Datalink will be used - audio (sound) will be sent at fixed line level from Audio Aux Link out to the  converter and via Masterlink to your BV8. BV8 will do the sound...

I`d recommend to connect your Pentas to the BM6500 (much better preamp/amp) and set your system to A.OPT 2 and V.OPT 0.

Now pressing TV will activate your BV8, your BM6500 and your Pentas in TV/AUX mode with improved sound stage.

Minor detail to add.

The added powerlinkcable supplies the on/off signal on pin 4.

The datalink signal is already used on the Aux with the fixed (line) audiolevel.

Otherwise it couldn't communicate without the powerlink.
