First one: no comments! Not at all!

Second: no, mine is not either - I have as much as possible wired - but in many cases that does not seems to be so.

Often people can't even get a Playmaker working properly wireless.

Bayerische, you can’t ignore the numerous complaints on the web about wireless connectivity for about every product. Do they all need a new captain and good programmers?

Maybe it’s a little more complicated than rocket science. Almost every brand will recommend a wired connection for a good reason and not less important, to guarantee a future-proof working product.

Do I have a stable wireless network? Yes, I do. Do I still prefer a wired connection? Yes! Why, I don’t know. It just feels it’s the right thing to do.

One of the main problems, over and above the usual interference from other 2.4 GHz things, including cordless phones, microwave ovens, and neighbors wireless networks, is that the "standards" are often treated like suggestions not requirements. There is a long and ignoble history of wireless networking problems, there were a couple of series of Intel wireless cards for computers that were absolutely horrible. All sorts of problems with stability, disconnects, bad data rates, etc. add to that issues with the SW that communicates with the cards. On Windows machines it seems every damned PC manufacturer wants to put their wireless networking application on top of the native Windows one, and they usually create tons of problems. The Windows stuff can be unstable enough with some hardware, the other apps are worse. The first thing I do on any new PC is uninstall the PC makers app and go back to the Windows one. On Vista even that didn't work, Vista had the worst networking setup I've ever seen.

The firmware in a lot of wireless routers, and in systems that stream from and to wireless routers can be iffy too.

If you can live with the range reduction 5 GHz is a lot better. Fortunately for me I can get all over my house with 5 GHz and have moved as many things as possible to that band. The only things left are my Playmaker and the wireless streaming for video to my Oppo BluRay. That and my phones and Beolink Wireless.

Well, I knew there was going to be a fierce defense.

What about having the wireless option? Then the users who cannot take a drop out for a second or two once a month can hard wire. And someone like me who would love to have a BL3500 in every bathroom could have it set to Wireless. I'd also like one in the kitchen. Again without the wires.

Our house is from 1935, while it was completely renovated back in 2001 by it's previous owners, and because it is in such an excellent condition I wouldn't go and cut up the walls for installing a couple of speakers. Just the cable installation itself would surely be BL5 money.

Too long to list....

The way B&O did the wireless option with things like the BL3500 was to run a ML cable from the Beolink Wireless to the BL3500. That's how I've got my BL2000s set up. But it's not as elegant as a internalized wireless which would be much nicer.

With my house it's more a matter of it's hard to run wires due to the way it's constructed. So far I've got three different electricians who have worked on the house and who more or less refuse to do any more work here as even overestimating the time and effort when they did their cost estimates they've all wound up working longer than they expected to get even the simplest things done. Surprise
