This week, I received my retyped MMC 20 CL from Axel !!!!!!

What a pleasure to rediscover my records (after month not hearing them because I found my old MMC 20 E very tired ;)). It was time for me to see what my BG 4002 can do ;) !

In one word : Whoaa !! amazing, I never heard my records and never heard music like that ! The result with my penta's is incredible (and it would never have ben possible without the help of Leslie ;)). I know that the CD player of the BC9500 is good but in my view, it is far away from the couple BG 4002 MMC 20 CL. We heard alomost 20 hours of music this weekend with friends and we all agree that there were a serious difference in term of sound (hearing the same song on both support) !!!!!!

But records need to be in good condition and after some hesitations, I decided to use my record wash machine. I know that there are a lot of debate about using this kind of machine but in my view, the result worth the effort. I wash almost 100 records this weekend and for some, the result is almost perfect. Do not expect miracles with this machine but it will clearly remove most of the scratches on records.

I know that if you take care about your records, you will never need to wash them but as a 30 years old guy, I do not have bought any new record. I always buy them on second hand market and in this case, the washing machine is really usefull. So if you hesitate to do it, I can encourage you to try, you could be surprised (my Led Zepellin II really came back to life) !!!

Just a picture of my broken MMC 20CL before retyping (totally broken)

The Knosti Disco Antistat!

I use it too, it is simple, cheap and very effective.

Good job!

Jacques, you think you could use them for platters as well? :-)

How much did you paid for it?

The MMC 20CL is one of my favorite B&O cartridges. Can you give some more details on the re-tip?  Does the newly repaired cartridge have a diamond contact-line (or shibata) diamond tip on a ruby cantilever?

Axel did a great job on fixing an MMC-2 for me recently but I didn't have the tip and cantilever replaced as they were still good.

Thanks,
sonavor

I've seen a similar system for sale over here to wash records but it's yellow not black. Gets decent reviews though.

This is what I use to clean records. It works pretty well, can really improve some old records and definitely needed for 2nd hand ones.

I've used these with great success. Not exactly cheap, but they do pamper your records, and a lot less dirt and dust than a paper sleeve:

I use these, recommended by Rich, and very good sleeves, much less static and the records attracts less dust.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I can second that.  I'm new to vinyl too but these immediately made a difference to the static, handling and "tidyness".

Yes, I think this could work but the brushes are probably too soft to really clean a platter ;) !

I bought it something like 50€ (with the specific cleaning liquid). It really worth the price (in my view). But with your skills Leslie, you can probably build a B&O automatic one (in aluminium and rosewood of course ;)) !

I choose the shibata diamond (so happy Axel could totally rebuild it, I did not look at the price ;)) ! A little bit expensive but finally, I am not disappointed at all.

Sorry, I have no detail on the retyping (except the fact that I sent the broken cartrige, paid and received a fully workng cartrige a week after ;)) !!!

My only recommandation is to change the dust jacket after washing records and to choose an antistatic one but the most important point is too choose different colors (that's why I used the black ones you can see on picture) to remember which records you have already wash ;)
