Hi all,

I've been using, listening and loving my Dad's Beogram 4000 for a few years now. However, we had some auxiliary speakers (2702's). When I routed these into another room, I inevitably came across the rotting driver issue...shame really, they we're great, just haven't used them for years.

We're looking into restoring these now. However, as i'm quite a noob in this area, can anyone recommend me a specific brand/model of speakers suitable to fit in my 2702's? (tweeters are fine).  Or if not, can anyone point me into a good place/shop to start searching?

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Miles :)

Welcome to Beoworld !

They are actually quite good quality Peerless drivers.
Anything suitable today would be quite expensive and maybe even difficult to find.
I would get the original woofers refoamed. It may even be the cheaper solution.

Hi Miles,

I learnt to do refoamings on a pair of 3702s...not too challenging (you can buy the foams on ebay and other locations) and pretty rewarding once they work again! Keith of Beoworld just restored the links to the pics of the (archived) thread I started back then when I did it. Check out:

Have fun!

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the recommendation! Unfortunately, the one driver had gone completely open circuit so replacing was the only short term option I had.

HOWEVER, my Old man managed to find some nice JBL Car woofers/tweeters that fitted nicely (with some modification to the tweeter fitting). Although I was initially skeptical, these things sound awesome now!

I'm now planning on getting another pair and fitting some KRK VXT 6 drivers into there - As far as I can tell, it's pretty much a spot on fit!

Will let you know if anything comes of this. Thanks for all your help.
