Hello, I'm a rather sad girl who has no clue about technology...

I bought a beovision 7 back in 2008, for the style, picture and sound.

sad but true but i didn't know I could play music through the TV. I have iTunes on an Apple iPhone 5s and on My iPad 2 pond gen.   How can I get my music played from either of these through the speaker on my tv?  Can it be done via a cable? If so, how?

Can it be done wirelessly is ideal. Is this possible?

simple baby steps , layman terms appreciated as I am by my own admission, clueless . Thanks Stef

Hi Stef, welcome to BeoWorld.

I guess the easiest solution is for you to connect an Apple TV  to your BeoVision 7. That way you can wirelessly stream music from your iPhone, iPad or direct from iTunes and play through the TV.

Hi Stef,

The BV7 MK2 has a DVI-connection - that's for the picture only.

For the sound you would need a converter from optical/digital to rca/analog (stereo) in order to hear the sound from the ATV.

BUT - now it gets difficult - your BV7 must be HD Ready! Not having more details, it's impossible to say if you will succeed with

connecting an AppleTV-box to your BV.

Did you already try to connect via DVI, and do you have a picture from the ATV?

On the other hand - if you just want to listen to the sound/the music AirPlay'ed from the iPhone, you would only need the AirPortExpress.

You can easily connect the sound output of it to an analog input on the BV.

Please write again, if you need further details.

MM, how would I know if it's HD ready?  My manual is so complex.  I bought the TV in 2008 from B&o Shop but it was ex display ....so no HDMI ports. I didn't know that sadly as manual shows the ports... But they definitely don't exist.

I get sky HD and I can tell as the picture is much better on BBC 1 HD than BBC1 for example.

Does that mean it's HD ready? Thanks MM

Sorry MM, What's DVI? yes I disconnect my sky and connect Apple TV and I get a picture.

my neighbour says my sky is fed through a converter into scart socket which is how I get sky tv. So we disconnected scart and connected Apple TV and got pic but no sound.   He realised sound is through scart so tried to see if I had optical connection but tv doesn't have

Sorry - you will have to ask your/a dealer for more information.

He will need to know the serialnumber and the SW-version to tell you if it's possible.

But do you need the picture, if you - as you wrote in your first posting - just want to isten to music on the BV7 speakers?

Hi Stef,

my advice (for sound-only) - if still possible return the ATV and get the Apple AirPortExpress instead.

Of cource you will need a working wireless network (including the APE) for using AirPlay - please do ask, if that needs further explanation.

Look behind your BV, see the userguide and localize the analog inputs (red and white rca/pnono connections). You will need an adapter cable - minijack (from the APE) to the RCA/male (to the BV).

You will have to configure the input of the BV in order to assign a button on the Beo4 - as described in the userguide.

Pushing that button opens the connection....and lets you hear the music AirPlayed from your iDevice.
