Hello everyone.

My father-in-law was nice enough to gift me his old B&O equipment from his basement. The set consists of the Beomaster 2400-2, a pair of S45-2 and a pair of 2700.

I love the look and feel of the whole thing. But, (why does there always have to be a "but") there are some pretty big issues with the equpment.

The major problem is with the Beomaster 2400-2. There seems to be a issue with both input and output. I have bought a 5P-Din --> minijack converter so as to allow me to play from my iPhone or MacBook, however when i plug it into the "Tape" port and select "Tape" as input, no sound is produced whatsoever. This is the major problem right now. I'm hoping that it might be a cable problem, but I would think it would make some noise plugging it in?

The FM seems to work very well, and FM1-5 is playing nicely. On the output side the first channel on both speaker 1 and 2 only produces very faint sound. When a single speaker is connected (to one of the two working ports) the sound is good, but when two speakers (S45-2) is connected the sound changes, and is very light in bass. This can however be fixed with "loudness" and some extra bass. Also the light in the "Bass" "Treble" and "balance" indicators, are not working.

The Beovox 2700 membrane has rotted away, and I understand this is a rather common or obligatory problem. There seems to be three "fixes", 1: refoaming 2: new bassunit 3: another speaker all together.

The s45-2s seems to be operating well, they sound fine, and in particular the woofer seems to be working. I'd love to add stands to them down the line and new cables, but that is ofcurse less important than getting the amp operational..

I have little experince with soldering, but that was long ago, and I understand near nothing of HIFI equipement.

I'm open to any ideas on how to fix it, including possibly trading/buying a new receiver/amp.

Thank you for reading this, I hope you can point me in the right direction on some of these issues.

Hi PB!

Welcome to Beoworld!

Thanks for the pictures, most appreciated here Smile Your 2400-2 looks stunning. Where is the remote? Confused

I think your problem here is a cable issue indeed. It should work. It works chez moi. Is it possible to open the DIN plug without damage and show us the internal connections?

As regards the beautiful 2700, the suspensions can be repaired (the cones are fine), some of us can do that in their sleep. But my advice here is to ask Martin, aka Dillen. He has the equipment for doing it professionally and he knows those speakers to the bone.

The Beomaster works, that's fine! It will probably require service though. It shouldn't get hot in any way at the vents, only warm.

Thank you!

Knowing my farther-in-law he probably doesn't know, I'll make sure to ask him though.

I'm afraid the plug won't open, I should probably try to test it somehow.

I'll make sure to look into getting the suspensions fixed.

BTW I live in Aarhus, Denmark

Pretty sure you have the wrong cable - you have a 5 pin DIN to mini jack. You need a mini jack to 5 pin DIN!  I would suggest getting a cable which has two mini jacks to 5 pin DIN and works both ways!

Have a look here for an example of the 2 direction cables.

Thank you! I'll be sure to look into getting the right cable.
