Hej / Hi - I have resolved an earlier problem with my trusty 2402: it now works. Except: the stylus arm won't stay down. I press start, the little triangular red light comes on, the arms moves over the record and settles briefly in the groove. Then the red triangle switches off, something clicks inside the 2402, the arms lifts, the red triangle comes on, the arm returns to its resting position and the 2402 switches off.

Can anybody advise, please?

Is one of the operating buttons loscked in the down position ?
See if they will all make a tiny click feeling when pressed.

Thanks Dillen - that was a helpful check: I realised that the problem is more complex than I had realised: all the buttons depress properly but I can start the turntable (in the incorrect way described above) both by depressing the "Start" and the "Turn" button. Something else seems to be going on.

You re-checked your tonarm balance setting?

Thanks, yes, I did find the owner's manual on the net (the original will be around somewhere in my study: the net was more convenient) and followed the instructions there. In those days, the manual didn't include a fault-finding section ("What? Something should go wrong with a B&O record player?").

Hello,

I have now the same problem that you had back in...2014-

Would you care to tell me how you managed? Same model, same description of the problem. Thank you
