Recently my local B&O store showered my with gifts as is there way from time to time!  This gift  was a beocenter 3500 I was advised that it wouldn't power up the first thing I checked was the mains plug fuse that was ok . Trying the system it did once power on but I get a static discharge when I touch the units metal and ground myself on the radiator. As a point of note I removed the turntable assembly top plate and unscrewed the a/c feed to the TT motor will this have any effect or bearing on the static discharge thing.

No.
But if a capacitor has been mounted to chassis somewhere, I suggest you replace it
with a class Y component.
If not, check the mains transformer for leakage to chassis.

Does it have a three-prong mains plug or only two?

Hi Dillen

Hows things with you, god I hope.

It has a 3 pin plug no earth lead twin core .

Ive since this first posting measured across the on/off switch there's 240 v to the switch but when selecting a function eg fm or other sorce nothing from it.

Think a strip down may be in order.

Repairing the power switch is usually possible, though fiddly.
When you take the switch apart, do it inside a small clear plastic bag to catch
any smaller deserting objects.

Hi Martin

Switch repaired it was a shattered spring for the bridge contacts, re-assembled switch and going nicely.  sorted out lube on the turntable motor And remade several very dodgy connections and it's now playing  well on fm and phono... Nice feeling getting life back into it. Just a very feint hum from T/T motor noticeable only because I have been using headphones. Thanks for your help as ever it's very much apprechiated.

Regards Maurice
